"People's Choice"...what a joke... Their fans don't seem to be buying into it based on their incessant whining over what happened that year... Neverthless, if they want to be a joke let them go. The rest of college football will continue to only acknowledge AP/UPI claims post World War II. LOL

do we have a post in the classics breaking down all of Bama's NC's? Someone did this once on another forum and then applied Bama's formula to ours. We had like 6, and that was before 2004.

You talking about this page?? Never seen it applied to Auburn though.. They are the only fan base to my knowledge that "claims" fake championships...

1925 National Championship- Alabama claims they share this one with Dartmouth. Who awarded the NC? Houlgate and Helms. Houlgate started his system in 1927. So Bama won their 1925 NC using a formula that didn't exist until 1927? Helms Athletic Foundation started in 1941. Another incredible retroactive NC.

From College Football Data Warehouse

The Associated Press Poll has been active since 1936. The AP took their final poll prior to bowl games from 1936 - 1964 and in 1966 and 1967. They took their final poll after the bowl games in 1965 and from 1968 - Current.

Links:

History of Polls

Polling Systems

1926 National Championship- Alabama claims they share this one with 3 other teams with equal or better records! Once again it is the Helms Athletic Foundation in 1941 that awards it!

1930 National Championship- The Davis poll says that Bama tied Notre Dame for NC this year. This was the only one to award it to Bama. Notre Dame was named NC in 6 polls! Parke Davis is another retroactive system! He (an individual, not an organization) did his in 1933!

1934 National Championship- Alabama says they share this with two other teams. The awarders are Dunkel, Williamson, and Football Thesaurus. Dunkel was an individual who came up with his own system. Williamson was a geologist who came up with his own system. Football Thesaurus first appeared in 1946!

1941 National Championship- This is a complete joke. The AP ranked Alabama 20th in the nation with 14 teams with better records in the top 20. Once again it is the Football Thesaurus that retroactively awards it. Alabama finished 3rd in the SEC that year.

1961 National Championship- Finally a legitimate NC. One poll didn't give it to Bama though.

1964 National Championship- While the AP did award the NC to Bama (10-1-0), Arkansas had the better record, 11-0. Alabama played Texas in their bowl and LOST. The AP final poll was before the bowl.

1965 National Championship- The AP gave this to Bama. That year there were three teams with better records than Bama. Bama 9-1-1, Michigan St 10-1-0, Arkansas 10-1-0, Nebraska 10-1-0.

1973 National Championship- AP puts Bama 4th after their bowl game loss. Bama claims a NC from the UPI poll that was taken before they met Notre Dame in the bowl game and lost. There were 3 teams with better records than Bama that year. The embarrassment of naming Alabama number one caused the UPI to name champions after bowl games.

1978 National Championship- AP gives this to Alabama(11-1-0) even though USC (12-1-0) had the better record Guess who Alabama lost to that year? USC!!!!!!!!!. UPI gave the NC to USC.

1979 National Championship- Their second legitimate NC. Their first Unanimous NC.

1992 National Championship- Their third legitimate NC. Their second Unanimous NC.

You can see why people ridicule Bama fans when they talk about 12 NCs. The early ones were awarded by individuals years after the games were played. These weren't consensus polls but NCs awarded by people that had their own formula for determining champions. Some NCs where given before bowl games that Bama lost. Using Alabama logic, Auburn could claim four national championships. But when Bammers brag they like to say they have twelve and Auburn has one. How silly. The NCAA recognizes 6 NCs for Bama and there are only two NCs that Bama has unanimously. You can't find an Auburn site claiming four national championships but there are plenty Bama sites claiming twelve.

Debunking the Alabama National Championship myths.

The rest of college football will continue to only acknowledge AP/UPI claims post World War II. LOL

This is my favorite part. I'll bet this posters next post would somehow reference the 12 issue...LOL.... They have to be the most ignorant fan base of all time.... fake titles and all...

So lets do the math on this. The next time a Bammer claims 12 natl championships, be sure the reply with...

5 of them were awarded retroactively...

2 of them were awarded before bowl game losses...

5 of them were awarded regardless of strong teams with better records...

1 was awarded to Bama over USC after Bama lost to USC...

only 2 of them were unanimous nat'l championships

How would this work for a T-shirt for the bama game..

front- Got 12? what,.... teeth?

front pocket- the bear's quote about accepting a nat'l champ from anyone

Back- thanks to (AU!)

Ole Miss, which has ZERO, started to claim three about ten years ago. They now fly three NC flags (and an SEC-W Championship flag from 2003) and their equipment trucks have "THREE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS" painted boldly on each side.

At least Bama has a stump of a leg to stand on.

I hate listening to the Bummers crap about 12 National Championships as much as you all do. I think that my hatred for all things Bummer supercedes most any hatred known to man (ok maybe I exaggerate a little, but not much). But they will refute our arguments by simply saying that the NCAA acknowledges all of these championships in its record book (which is true). I am not sure what is right and what is wrong, I am just glad that we don't have to live in the past to feel good about our team and entire program. I don't care how many NC's those classless idiots have. I don't care how many they claim. I just want our Auburn Tigers to make damn sure they dont ever win another. I wouldn't trade our 1 NC for their 12 EVER, because I would have to put on that dark pink on Saturday's instead of God's Favorite color's (Orange and Blue of course)! It's great to be an Auburn Tiger whether they have 12 or 1, doesn't matter to me. When they start that crap just smile and tell them the It's GREAT to be an Auburn Tiger!

WDE! :au:

well...slight correction....the NCAA doesn't acknowledge anybodies MNC's. The NCAA doesn't crown a football national champion....anything there is from outside sources...AP, UPI, now BCS....not from the NCAA

Yes, they had three national championship banners in the endzone opposite the AU section last weekend. There were all sorts of MNC banners, SEC champion banners, and bowl game victories...all of which seemed to mysteriously stop in the 60's?

Ok maybe I used the wrong term when saying acknowledge/reckognize. What I was trying to say is that all of them are "listed" in the official NCAA record book. As I said, who cares. Let them live in the past and lets make sure they have no future by beating them every year, and handling our business in recruiting and on the field.

You can't get to heaven in a red canoe cause God's favorite colors are Orange and Blue.

I'm guessing he's planning on sporting a "Got 6?" t-shirt then.

Even so, better than sporting the big got one or maybe two........hmmm wait a min, i think the second is in question. Whats even more funny is that Georgia Tech has more SEC championships that Auburn, and they have been out of the SEC for forty years or so.

Dang, what is it with you bammers and simple math?? First BG show his inability to count(on another thread), and now you.... I mean come on now, even my 6 year old neice can tell which number is larger when put in front of her....6 is more than 5.... To make it easy for you, I've included a link. Hope that isn't to hard for you to get, lord knows with simple math you are in over your heads. I'll leave you with our word for the day...Addition...the process of combining numbers to get one larger number.

Now, how will the bammer spin machine change this? It's always fun to watch you bammers try to spin something to go your way...

For the bammers that can't count

Now, to give you extra study time, tomorrows word is subtraction - the process of taking a large number and removing smaller numbers from it...let's use the number, oh, i don't know..how about 12, now lets take away a random number say 10 ( which happens to be the number of MNC's the bammers were awarded retroactively, or SHARED with other teams, or in the case of 1941, just plain made up) and we get 2... Hope that wasn't too fast for you bammers to follow.

The bammers may not be able to handle some math but they can count to five. How do I know? Because the idea of the thumb is driving them nuts :cheer:

Well you can attempt to discredit our NCs all day long.

But I'll take the 21 SEC championships and be happy.

Wait wait...maybe ill stick with our ALL TIME record 10 win seasons

Or hey...maybe ill go with ALL TIME record bowl appearances

Nah..you know whats better than that? More bowl wins than any team in history...ever

Those will do just fine.

We don't have to discredit your fake NC's...the facts speak for themselves...

Why not:

go with: "paying players since the 1920's" after all its a tradition...

or how about MOST BOWL LOSSES in NCAA history.

why don't you add those little gems to your "fact finding tour"..
