His math penalizes teams with more recruits at the same level as another team. Kinda of a screwy system. He ranks AU and Bama as having the same number of 6.5 and 6 stars, but AU has more 5.5 stars so their average comes below Bama's. He needs a more sophisticated formula. Ohio state has fewer top ranked players than AU, but because their numbers are low, they tie AU with their average.

So, what's the over/under on how long before all the bammers start using Emfinger as the "guru" they refer to??

My money says, bammerperry gets to typing as soon as last night's binge-fest wears off.........

Guest Tigrinum Major

I am more concerned with the BCS rankings four years down the road, when these guys are RS juniors.

Recruiting rankings are important, but the majority of them are meaningless, especially those by Emfinger and Forrest Davis. They are the Houlgates of recruiting.

I pmed him about it. This BBH was on PF yesterday, there may even be audio by now. Wore out a set of knee pads yesterday alone. Spent ten minutes telling how Kareem Jackson, the Vandy 2 star was a "phenom."

ESPN currently has Bama ranked 13th and Auburn 17th in recruiting, despite the fact that Bama has fewer overall recruits and fewer recruits with a higher rank.

Wow. How can this be? Even Slimebomb yesterday was submitting (and you could tell it pained him to do so) that by no stretch of imagination could you imply that bammer was doing better in recruiting than we were. He then of course went fanatical about how if $aban brought anyone in, he was a miracle worker, blah blah blah.

But still, how can these polls show this? Even if they are meaningless, I'd love to hear some kind of logical explanation.

A couple of observations. As bogus as some of the rankings may be, there's still 8 SEC teams in the top 20. Looks like the SEC is back and will be for a while.

Second, as for Auburn, if we close with Bynes, I'd still put our class up against anyone in the nation. You have to understand that this class is not heavy in skill position players, which whether they admit it or not, makes a difference in the way classes are evaluated. From what I recall, we're only signing 1 QB (Top 5 in the nation) 1 Tailback (Top 5 in the nation) and 1 Fullback (Everything I've seen has him as one of the top FBs in the nation).

But this class is geared to meet our needs, which is heavy with linemen on both sides of the ball. Ziemba is a stud and Ramsey is rated as a top 2-3 center. Now, McNeil at DB? Wow! And a kicker who played in the HS All-America game. Again, if we finish with Bynes, I'll take this class and take my chances against anyone.

Good point. Linemen are the ones who win the games. Most people tend to forget this. Without a good line, "skilled" positions players wont do anything. Keep recruiting the big men and well be good for a long time to come.

Rank 'Bama #1, we want their expectations sky high so we can bring them crashing down at the next Iron Bowl (again).

In our new tradition of skipping the worthless poster above...........

I wholeheartedly agree. Its better when they fall harder. It's like cutting their heart out....with a spoon.

Recruiting rankings are for SUCKERS! There seems to be a lot of people on this board who put a great deal of stock in them. :moon:

Weren't you the same person who posted that bogus list where uat was actually ranked ahead of us, and touted it as undeniable evidence that "bammer's back"?
