Hillary on O'Reilly

I figured someone would have mentioned it by now. In my opinion, I thought overall it was a pretty good interview. Hillary handled herself fairly well, she didn't come across as an evil witch (heck she even showed a sense of humor once or twice), but she did stumble a couple of times. I thought O'Reilly did a pretty good job asking questions and he got on her about some of her stances. When he asked her to tell him how she was going to bankrupt the country with her health care plan, the look on her face was priceless. You could tell she didn't like that. I thought in tonights segment that he was on her case pretty hard. He got kinda vocal at her, but at least he let her say what she had to say and then assessed what she said afterwards.

What were your thoughts?

If Obama wanted to go negative, he could use this:

Why? You may ask. Let's just say there are many guys on this board who would much prefer to wake up next to achmed than Hitlary. I could even speculate that a couple have his poster on the ceiling above their bed! :roflol:

She handled herself as well as she could. Brave of her to step up and go on the show. She is pulling out all stops. It seems to be working as she is pulling even with achmed. A lot of folks are second guessing their votes right about now. It's good to be a republican in times like these.

My impressions are twofold:

1. Kudos for stepping up to the plate and going on what most Dems consider to be a hostile forum.

2. I still don't believe a word she says. The foolproof method to know when Hillary is lying: her lips are moving.

How can anyone in their right mind vote for her?

I would never vote for her, but I noticed you posed that question as though there were a really good candidate to vote for. Is there? If I were a loyal democrat I wouldn't know who to vote for. They both totally suck to me. I couldn't trust either one of them as far as I could throw them. Hillary's past is so slimy. Obama is a complete wild card, impossible to get a read on him and he has practically no experience with some Alice in Wonderland ideas on how to fix things. At least I feel like I could trust Mccain, but he's up there in age. A great vp candidate could be a plus for him.

Not saying there is a really good candidate to vote for. There isn't, in my opinion. But if I were a staunch Democrat looking to pull the lever on one of the two (not even considering someone from another party) it would have to be Obama.

I agree, he gives you the best chance to win the election if you are a staunch Dem.

I thought it was a smart move on her part to go on O'Reilly, and I think she is doing anything she can to get votes. Too little too late, but she will still fight this out as long as she can. I think she thought that by coming on O'Reilly that she could woo some independents and some moderate republicans.

As Churchill once said about Hitler "If Hitler invaded hell I would make at least a favorable reference to the devil in the House of Commons." I feel the exact same way about the Clintons.

I actually thought the interview was pretty bad. O'Reilly was his typical blowhard, pompous self. He posed accusatory question after accusatory question and did not even let her answer. She would get 5 seconds into a response and he would cut her off again. It's a style that has become typical of both him and Hannity when they aren't getting the answer they want.

Example of a typical question:

O'Reilly - You know your healthcare plan is going to bankrupt the country...

Clinton - Well my proposal for healthcare is...

O'Reilly - You are a socialist...

And on and on...geesh

I did think Hillary had a pretty good response on the fiscal/economy/taxes question and in a way-if you paid close attention, exposed O'Reilly for what he really is.

It's also worth noting that Clinton's appearance came directly after Obama's showing with Chris Wallace. I think Chris Wallace did a much better job with that interview. O'Reilly ought to take some interviewing notes from Russert, who is still the best in the business at this game.

See, I think the appropriate response would be, after the first time O'Reilly interrupts, is to say, "Look are you interested in my views, or are you just interested in interrupting me? Because I'll take my message somewhere else." Then, the next time he interrupted, just take the microphone off and leave.

So many people hate O'Reilly that she would probably pick up 5-8% in the polls on that action alone.

I would have loved to see that. I agree with you, she would have gone from zero to here in some Democratic circles if she could have pulled it off.

O'Reilly is a world class jerk. He tries to bully his way through his so called interviews, and is a legend in his own mind. Kudos to Hillary for undergoing the ordeal.

I actually thought she did a fantastic job. That means something, seeing that I'm an Obama supporter.

That was a different Hillary than we've grown accustomed to. Putting her up against that a**hole actually made her look warm and caring. I think it was a smart move to agree to the "interview."

She's still toast, though.

The tough questions are welcomed. I get sick of sappy, batting practice interviews just like anyone else.

What I don't enjoy, however, are labels being hurled at a person while they're attempting to answer your question. I'd say the same if it were a Republican being subjected to that unprofessional crap, too.

Small world...Obama to appear on Meet the Press with Russert for the full hour tomorrow.
