IslandTiger 0
Sorry if it's been posted already...thought there was some humorous and interesting banter back and forth stemming from the question. My hands down choice for "Face of the Program" would be Bo Jackson by a landslide. As far as the banter in the thread goes, I love the bammer that blames the last 6 years on probation. Three words come to mind-"Psychosis", and "English Class". I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he had been knocking back some Jim Beam while watching his worn out copy of the '92 season right before he responded...... "Face of the Program" Response Thread Bo Jackson would be a good pick for Auburn. Of course, Bear would be my pick for Bama. Then again Tuberville has done a great job there at Auburn. If he won an NC, he might be the new face.
CircleDrill 178
Bo Jackson would be a good pick for Auburn. Of course, Bear would be my pick for Bama. Then again Tuberville has done a great job there at Auburn. If he won an NC, he might be the new face. Well, I just realized that Auburn does not really have "a face" for the program. There is no one iconic figure that is as big or bigger than the program itself. As Pat Dye said, "It don't make any difference who's carrying the ball, it don't make any difference who's catching it, who's rushing the passer, or who's making the tackles. Just as long as he's got a blue jersey on." That speech more than anything else captures the Auburn spirit. So I have to say that quote should be the face of Auburn, and not a person. Why don't we make you the face of the Auburn program, as much as you hang out on Auburn message boards. If Bammer is so wonderful, why aren't you on Turder Insider. Oh, I forgot, nothing positive going on with that football program. Kinda reminds you of 9/11, or Pearl Harbor, aight'.
CircleDrill 178
Auburn's not a place, it's a state of mind. How very homo. Auburn is not a state of mind, but nice try at stretching your severely limited reading comprehension skills. If you will notice the quite clear statement above that reads: "There is no one iconic figure that is as big or bigger than the program itself. " Here, let me enlarge that and bold it for you in case you also missed it the 2nd time: There is no one iconic figure that is as big or bigger than the program itself. That's just the way it is. No one person is "The Face of Auburn." Period. And most of us like it that way.
Ashandarei 0
It's not just who you think is the face of your program, it's also what others. Ask any SEC fan to name an Auburn player, and 99% of them will say Bo. That is a face of your program... period.

SCBusPilot 72
I would suggest that it would be the iconic Tiger Eyes logo, or our beloved Aubie. Trying to put a particular player, coach, AD, or any other tangible person in that role (ala a really old picture of 'Tha Bahr' from the 1960's) just wouldn't fit with Auburn's mantra. We're much bigger than any one individual, though I have GREAT respect for all of those individuals that got us to where we are today.
jared52 4,354
I agree with the Bus, I think Aubie is the face of Auburn because he really is the personification (r animalification? ) of the Auburn spirit.

Im curious, I think that Walker for sure is a good pick.....but, CMR has definitely got that program heading in the right direction. CMR is to me, one of the best....if not the best best head coach right now in the SEC......I really think he is a class act and knows what it takes to win. If I was a high school senior and CMR showed up at my door, I would need to do some serious thinking about where I would want to go.
