Look for an announcement soon that former bama star LB Ezekeil Knight is leaving. This one is for medical reasons although he will likely transfer and play at a smaller school.

His family said that he would sign a medical waiver, but UA said that they would not accept it. His heart condition they think is serious enough that they don't want to put him in more danger. AU fans may want to spin this as Saban removing another player, but why remove the second best player on your D?

I hate it for the kid. What does that leave Alabama for LBs?

nothing. I hate it for him. Good player with tons of potential. Good luck to him in the future.

So, he couldn't get on a Medical Scholarship?

He could, but the word is that he wants to play football...not just be on scholarship. I think that may be unwise considering the fact that he's been hospitalized 2 times in the last year and a half for SERIOUS medical conditions.

I hope it works out for him. He's a good dude, and a good player.

A kid from our town (starter @UGA) had to take a medical scholly. He is making much better grades and still helps out with the team and hangs out with the players.

Why do you have to be so friggin negative? Nobody tried to spin anything.

as far as experience goes, next to nothing. McClain will be a beast i'm sure, but there's not much behind him. i don't think Hightower, Upshaw, or Harris will be starters from day one, but i'm sure they will be heavy into the rotation especially as the season progresses. ok maybe Upshaw will start. still kinda torn on that one. honestly, i don't think Prince Hall is coming back either. that announcement will probably be made right before fall camp or shortly after the start. WR might take a hit also as Oakley might not make it to fall camp. CNS' defense relies on stud LBs alot, so this coming season should be interesting.

I wish him the best wherever his life leads from here. I don't quite follow the logic of leaving for medical reasons, but playing anyway, T'town or elsewhere, particularly if it is indeed a heart problem, but that's his decision to make.

Meanwhle, a silver lining for you Bama fans: Your incoming freshman LB's should be have a s**tload of experience by the time they're Jrs/Srs.

i know. with some of the guys we're pulling in our LB corps is going to be flat out scary in a few years. honestly, i think over the next two years we will have ALOT of freshmen playing various positions. we will be a young team and some of our fans should prepare for that. i wouldn't be surprised to see Star Jackson as backup to JPW this season. Julio will prob end up opposite McCoy, maybe a mix of BJ/Stover in the slot. i really don't think there will be alot of 4-wide at all.

Well, I said "experienced".

...we'll wait and see if they have the talent, attitude, and coaching to go with it.. :poke:

Bama fans....This sucks. I hate it when people get hurt or especially something like this that could end up killing them. Last year during the AU/UAT game, I got into an altercation with an AUBURN FAN that was cheering when one of your players got hurt. He was saying dumb stuff like "I hope he dies" and rot in hell biiitch and stuff like that. I told him to sit down and shut up or I was gonna knock his teeth out! Every person in the room (Bammers and Aubies) took my side and escorted his ass out the door.

On a brighter note...............I still hate Bama! :poke:

yeah, when it comes down to injuries and season/career ending stuff the rivalry crap has to disappear. i feel for Knight, but he needs to realize that it is just not a good idea for him to play. Faulkner wasn't even willing to take him on, that should tell you something. i hope he lives a very long fruitful life, but he needs to realize as painful as it may be, football is not the way to go for him i don't think.

I honestly can't imagine any school that would take this kid on. There is clearly some DANGEROUS ailments with this kid, otherwise UAT and CNS would want him (seeing how they clearly need him). It is up to the kid whether or not to put himself in danger, but if I was a coach at a small school and he approached me I would sit the kid down and try and talk him out of playing (any decent coach should do this and not be greedy for his team in this situation).

It has got to be so tough for a college kid who went to a big time football school like Alabama (and expected to play in the NFL and take care of his family/friends) to be told that it is over...not only at Bama but totally from football

Very tough

yeah, i hate to say it but maybe enough teams will turn him down that he will get it in his head that he needs to just hang it up. i hate to say that i hope somebody won't be successful somewhere, but i think in this case it would be best.

he had a stroke earlier in the year, but that was connected to his heart condition. afaik, other than just normal dings and scratches and his heart condition, he hasn't had any other real health problems.

Sad indeed. The guy wanted to play for a big time program but could only get Bama to offer.

Now this. The bright side is that he doesn't have to live in Tuscaloosa anymore.
