MDM4AU 332
FRIERSON HITS WINNER IN 2ND OT: Katy Frierson's strike with 2:57 left in the second overtime period sent the Auburn soccercomplex into a frenzy Friday night. The goal gave the Tigers a 3-2 victory over No. 5 Florida State, breaking an eight-game skid at the hands of the Seminoles. It was Auburn's first win over a top five team since 2004. "It is so early in the season that you don't quite know what your team is made of and you don't quite know their character in games when they face adversity, but I think we learned a lot about this team," Auburn coach Karen Hoppa said. "It shows a ton of character to tie the game with less than three minutes left and then win in overtime against the No. 5 team in the country." Auburn improved to 3-1. The Seminoles, who had not given up a goal, fell to 3-1. "We were determined not to let them beat us like they have in the past," Frierson said. "We were playing with a lot of urgency, and it was crucial for us to get the first goal. When they went ahead 2-1, no one hung their heads. We kept fighting for each other." http://auburnundercover.com/news/articles/2010/9/3/morning-news-update-sept-4-soccer-team-stuns-mighty-seminoles
