Mason may have a slight frame but this guy has playmaker written all over him. An extremely quick and fluid running back prospect with great foot-speed and burst through the hole. Short but well-defined and built low to the ground aiding his great vision, balance and body control.

Anyone know where we stand with this guy?

Though I don't get all crazy about recruiting, I do try to keep up with players Auburn is targeting. I'd never heard of this guy before this thread. He does claim to have an offer, so we'll just have to wait and see, I guess.

We certainly need two good ones this signing period. Earlier, like in May, the coaches were saying we'd only take one RB this year, even after Aycock left. Maybe sometimes we fans count better than they do. A blind man could see we'd need two. It wouldn't hurt to get two sure RB's and one more H-back-RB type utility player.

The guys we sign this time need to be quality, too. It would be scary going into next season with only Dyer, O-Mac, and some "suspects". We need real prospects.

According to Jox Recruiting Central, Jeffrey Lee of AuburnSports.com is reporting Tre Mason is set to announce between AU and Ole Miss this Wednesday around 4:00PM.

I don't even know how one could even consider Ole Miss with an Auburn offer on the table.

...unless it's playing time he's concerned about.

Should pick Auburn tomorrow. Crowell isn't coming.

I'm perfectly fine with Crowell not coming. There's just something about him that I'm not fond of. Can't put my finger on it, but wearing a bama hat to an Auburn game on a visit is definitely part of it.

Can't say I was very impressed with his performance during the Under Armour game, but that's not a good place to base a judgment on.

Mason ran for 1,643 yards and 24 touchdowns this past season. He earned Palm Beach Post All-Area First Team honors and was a finalist for the Lou Groza High School Player of the Year award. In addition to his final three, Rivals.com says Mason’s received scholarship offers from 17 other schools, including Penn State and Michigan.

One of the bigger mysteries in Mason’s recruiting has been the disinterest from Florida’s Big Three: Miami, Florida and Florida State, none of which has pursued the lightning-fast back. According to Rivals, the only in-state school to offer Mason a scholarship so far is FIU. That doesn’t bother Mason at all.

“I guess they didn’t see anything in me,” Mason said in December. “But the No. 1 team in the nation (Auburn) does.”

Dude is the same weight and just an inch shorter than Caddy, so it's not like he's some McCalebb clone. Why wouldn't you want this kid watching that film?

Somebody said something about possible grade issues, that's the only reason I could think of why no Florida school wants him.

If the article is accurate about offers from Michigan and Penn State I think we can rule out the grade question.

"Somebody said something about possible grade issues, that's the only reason I could think of why no Florida school wants him".

UF, FSU & UM shy away unless the prospect can pass the "text-a-death-threat-in-under-a- minute" test.
