AUBURN, Ala. – Brian Houghton will join the Auburn baseball program

for the 2010 season, head coach John Pawlowski announced on Wednesday.

Hougton is currently a senior at Bob Jones High School, where he has

been a third baseman and all-conference right handed pitcher for Ryan

Hall’s squad.

"Brian has demonstrated the ability to throw three pitches for strikes

and has been an extremely consistent pitcher for Coach Ryan Hall at Bob

Jones High School,” said Pawlowski. “We are excited that he has

chosen to be an Auburn Tiger."

Hougton, who comes from the same high school as current Auburn pitcher

Grant Dayton and former Auburn star and current professional pitcher

Chris Dennis, was an ABCA Underclassman All-Star pitcher in 2008 and was

also selected to the North/South All-Star Team. Owning a career 3.34 ERA

in 149 innings with 167 strikeouts heading into the spring, he has also

excelled at the plate, hitting .356 with eight home runs and 38 doubles

during his high school career. A 2008 Huntsville All-Metro Honorable

Mention and a 2007 Huntsville Super All-Metro, he played at Athens Bible

School in 2006, earning Limestone/Morgan Country Varsity All-Area Second

Team and Limestone County Varsity All-Country First Team as a

shortstop/pitcher.
