Ty Megahee Joins Auburn Baseball Staff

Recommended Posts

Ty Megahee has joined the Auburn baseball staff for

the 2009-10 season, Auburn Head Coach John Pawlowski announced on

Tuesday. Megahee was previously at Monmouth University as an assistant

coach/recruiting coordinator, helping the team to a regional appearance

in 2009.

"We are very fortunate to have Ty Megahee join the Auburn baseball

program. His experience as an assistant coach, recruiting coordinator

and a trip to the NCAA Regionals last year will certainly help us as we

continue to move the program forward,” Pawlowski said.

In Megahee’s only season at Monmouth, he was the hitting and infield

coach while also spearheading the program’s recruiting efforts. Last

year the team hit .318 and set a school record for stolen bases (100) in

a single season, winning the 2009 Northeast Conference Tournament

Championship and a berth in the Oxford, Miss., Regional. Four Monmouth

players were named to the all-conference team and two previously

undrafted players were selected during the June MLB Draft.

“I am very excited to be at Auburn. I look forward to helping Coach

Pawlowski, Coach Foxhall and Coach Jarrett in achieving their goals of

winning an SEC Championship and going to Omaha,” Megahee said.

“Baseball in the southeast is widely recognized as the best in the

country and I am happy to be back and a part of it.”

Prior to his stay at Monmouth, Megahee spent three seasons as a

volunteer assistant coach at Mercer, where he also was an infielder for

two seasons. During his coaching stint, Mercer advanced to three

Atlantic-Sun Conference Tournaments and hit .292 or better in all three

seasons.

An academic all-conference selection as a player in 2005, he hit .296

as the starting shortstop for a team that increased its win totals from

11 the season before he arrived to a 28-26 mark during his senior

season.

Megahee replaces Jeff Duncan on the Auburn staff. Duncan left to take

an assistant coaching position at Purdue.
