Auburn is looking to snap a seven-game losing streak to LSU

Recommended Posts

The Auburn baseball team welcomes defending national

champion and current No. 3 LSU to Plainsman Park this weekend for a

three-game SEC series. Game times are 7pm CT on Friday, 2pm on Saturday

and 1pm on Sunday. Friday’s game will air live on CSS while

Saturday’s will be shown live on SportsSouth and both will also be

available on ESPN360.com.

The pitching matchups for Friday’s and Sunday’s games have been set

while Auburn has yet to decide on a Saturday starter. On Friday, Jr. LHP

Cole Nelson (4-1, 3.29) will square off against Jr. RHP Anthony Ranaudo

(0-0, 0.90) and on Sunday Jr. LHP Grant Dayton (4-1, 4.86) will battle

So. RHP Joey Bourgeois (3-1, 5.50). LSU will throw So. LHP Chris Matulis

(5-0, 2.57) on Saturday.

Auburn remains the top hitting club in the SEC with a .349 team batting

average. That is the highest team batting average 30 games into a season

for an Auburn club since the 1999 team was hitting an identical .349 in

its first 30 games, going 27-3. Leading the offense are Jr. IF Hunter

Morris (.403) and Jr. IF Justin Hargett (.391), which rank third and

sixth, respectively, in the SEC in hitting.

LSU has won seven straight in the series dating back to the 2007 season

when Auburn won two-of-three in Baton Rouge on Easter Weekend.

Auburn’s last series win at Plainsman Park was in 1998.

Friday night is Military Appreciation Night presented by the Marines

and there will be a post-game fireworks show. On Saturday, the first

1,000 fans will receive a fan scroll from Verizon Wireless. On Sunday,

the first 500 fans into the game will receive Team Trading Card Set No.

2 from Longhorn Steakhouse and all kids 12-and-under can run the bases

after the game, presented by ALLKids.

I can't be there this weekend because of work, but I want to stress what Jackson-Sullivan said, this series is huge for AU people!  We have to keep pace with LSU, and we really need a big crowd for this series.

Like I've heard people say throughout the week, how about the students go to this game for $2 and drink afterwards (or during) instead of spending $30 on the rodeo?

War Eagle!
