1957 team went undefeated and won the so-called mythical national championship. I rate it in the top 2 with a defense that was outstanding all season long.

That looks pretty good but i feel like the 04 team was a little better than the '10 team. The 04 teams defense was unbelievable and the offense was really good!

The 2004 team was certainly more complete, but between those two I'd still have to pick the 2010 squad because Cam had arguably the best season in college football history.

1. 2004

2. 1983

3. 2010

4. 1988

Those 4 are somewhat interchangeable but relative to their peers I put those four at the top.

I left out the 1957, relative to its peers because I know nothing about college football in 1957. I think the 4 above though were the best team in the country in each of those years. For the 1988 team, it lost two games but one was the earthquake game which there is no way it should have lost and the other was the FSU game when AU was robbed on a late PI noncall with Dieon. Otherwise the 1988 team crushed everyone and was totally dominant, so I put them towards the top.

Having seen both the 2004 and 2010 teams in person, I'm not sure what to think. The 2004 team was more complete, but I don't think the 2010 team could have ever lost. I'll say:

1a - 2004

1b - 2010

I'm not sure you could go anywhere other than 1957 for #3. That team was simply impressive.

3 - 1957

4 - 1988

5 - 1983

6 - 1993

7 - 1972

8 - 1971

9 - 1987

10 - 1963

Honorable mention - 2005, 1982, 1958, 2006, 1913, 1997, 2000

1. 2010- By far the best offense the game has seen in quite sometime, maybe ever. If you put the 2010 team up against the 2004 team I think you would see a game similar to the 2010 BCS NC game. 2. 2004- Great offense and a great defense. A ton of leaders on that team. Both of these teams are probably 1a and 1b. I give the slight edge to 2010 because Cam and Nick were absolute game changers on their respective sides of the ball.

3. 1957

4. 1983

5. 1988

6. 1993

7. 1972

8. 1988

9. 1913

10. 1989

The 04' and 10' teams were the best I have ever seen. I would give the edge to 2010 because of the #2 x-factor. The most dominant player in college football history.

The 2010 team did great things on the football field, but there hasn't ever been an auburn team that could have beat the 2004 team. I'm not sure there has been a team in the SEC since 2004 that could have beat them either.

2010 - Good D, Outstanding O. MNC!

2004 – Coaching kept this from being the greatest Auburn football seasons ever. CTT should have had his foot removed so he couldn’t ride the brakes all year. A great year, ruined by Favoritism, break riding, and cheaters.

1957 – MNC year, even though we were on probation and couldn’t go to a bowl game.

1983 – Robbed of the MNC by the Media and Coaches Favoritism polls in favor of Miami

1972 – 9-1 Thanks LSU, Why couldn’t you just roll over and die. And  Punt Bama Punt!

1989 – 10-2 great season! Turds take a Beating in JHS for first time in the history of the Iron bowl. Finally! No more Bammer home game for the IB every year. 3rd conference title in a row!

1993 – Probation, but great team

1900 – Undefeated 4-0

1913  - Undefeated 9-0

1904 – Undefeated 6-0

1988 – 10-2 Man I really dislike LSU and FSU! Conference title shared with LSU

2006 – 11-2 Greatest 7-3 game in the history of football. The LSU game was total war; I have never seen such a low scoring game that was so exciting. I have also never seen so much broken equipment on the filed by halftime in any game. The hits were epic, one of the greatest Auburn games of all time. Unfortunately this game created too many injuries for both teams and we dropped games to Arky and UGA. This was also year 1 of Auburns switch to Under Armor.

Don't forget about that 1963 team.

Sidle, Frederickson, 9-1 regular season, beat the Bear, shutout both UGA and UF, Orange Bowl bid

Yep that one slipped my mind.

We're splitting hairs to differentiate between several years, but I still think the 83 team was the best we've ever had, and I think the 04 squad was better than that of 2010. It's hard for me to reach back as far as 57, but I do know that team was quite special. I like DoubleX's inclusion of the 1913 team, but I feel the 1914 team also deserves mention, considering that it didn't give up a point the entire year, with the only blemish coming in a scoreless tie. 1958 was another year that seems forgotten due to a single tie with no losses. Also, if memory serves me, our only loss in Sullivan and Beasley's senior year was to Alabama...

Too many great seasons of Auburn football for me to be able to realistically put together a list, but here's my best attempt:

1) 1983

2) 2004

3) 2010

4) 1957

5) 1913

6) 1988

7) 1993

8) 1914

9) 1958

10) 1972

I remember Dye saying in his autobiography that he had two truly great teams at AU - 1983 and 1988. What the '83 team did at the end of the year was one of the great feats during my life in college football IMO. Also the only time I remember Dye saying that at the end of that year, there was not a team in the country that wanted any part of AU. That '83 team would have put a beating on Nebraska that would have shocked the nation at the time.

I believe the 2004 team was the best overall AU team however.

It could have been if the so called riverboat gambeler wasnt trying to play it so safe and layibg off teams once they got up by 8 pts or higher.
