I thought the OP was for the last 100 seasons....which would go back to 1917 and everyone should have a similar number of games over that time. Interesting list but consider that for the better part of 20 years ....mid 1930s until Shug was hired, AU's best seasons were a few 6 win seasons.....and mostly some really bad years with anywhere from 0 to 4 wins. The famous Earl Brown had a total of 3 wins over 3 full seasons.....which brought about the hiring of Shug..
corchjay 5,311
End of WWII would be a better gauge. Maybe then, or 1950, 1980, and more recently from 2000-present. I seriously doubt anyone cares who won what in 1923 or 1937...

Yep...they have bounced all over the place .....were independent for 25 years, Southern Conference and Big East even...not part of the ACC for very long and have a very mixed history of who they have played. Of all the teams on the list they probably have the least stellar history .....only what you might call a Power 5 school for a couple dozen years.....but made their mark once they got serious about it. . Cozmo 54
What is really impressive to me is the amount of times AU has played teams on this list, especially compared to others on here. We'd have a good 60-70 more wins if we swapped shedules with Tennessee the last 100 years... Imagine instead of playing UT, Ga Tech, UF, Uga, bama mixed in with Clemson, FSU, LSU etc every year, and playing Minnesota, Northwestern, Illinois, Purdue, Wisconsin (who had a miserable program until 25 years ago), Indiana etc instead? Almost a shame that Michigan has only won two titles in the last 70 or so years and that OSU doesn't have more either...

Listening to the Sportscall radio show a few years ago and they had numbers on this. UGA and AU were numbers 1 & 2 nationally on strength of schedule going back a long time. I don't remember the exact the time frame, but it was through way back when.

Auburn made a big transition as a college (or institute as it was known) back in the 50s ...when the vets came back from WWII and were on the GI Bill....API was not the school that AU is now....primarily an engineering and ag school and the middle to late 1950s when the "university" concept was developed. Like it or not, Auburn has always been the second school in the state and has been underfunded for about as long as I can remember. JMO but Auburn people have a lot to be proud of and those of my generation who took classes in "Temporary Buildings" and lived in dank dorms like Mag Hall where a couple popcorn poppers being used at the same time would blow a fuse should truly appreciate how far it's come. Accomplishments on the football field are something to be proud of but hoping you see the bigger picture ..the Auburn of astronauts and corporate leaders. War Eagle. That's a stunning post and belittles all the athletes that went before, "Corch". For a guy always running his mouth about being "old school" you'd probably be in a fetal position watching anything before Teddy Roosevelts ultimatum rules.
