MOBILE, Alabama -- Defensive end Chris Casher -- one of the state's top football prospects in the Class of 2012 -- today announced his intention to sign with Florida State University.

Casher, a 6-foot-4, 230-pounder junior at Faith Academy in Mobile, selected FSU over Alabama and Auburn.

As a junior, Casher compiled 50 tackles, including 19 tackles for loss, and 10 sacks. He also plays tight end and wide receiver, making 22 catches for 408 yards.

Casher is considered one of the state's top juniors, alongside Oxford linebacker Kwon Alexander, Hueytown quarterback Jameis Winston and Bob Jones linebacker Reggie Ragland.
