To Ease your mind, it did mine.

As most of you that know me, I am not one who usually comes with "insider" information, I normally just give my perspective on the topic at hand from an Auburn man.  However, I had the opportunaty to hear from someone today who is very aware of the situation and the people involved and I have a few observations to share with the family.  Please understand that I would not share this if I did not trust in what I heard,  but please TIFWIW.

First, he said the story is true.  He knows John Bond, and he is a good man.  The story as told was the truth.

Second, don't expect anything connecting Auburn to come out.  If Schlabach and his cohorts had anything further, or thought there was any connection, they would not have released the story.  They would have held off until the story was complete.  The connection was tried to be made, but none could be found.  (this is the part to ease your mind) there is no connection.

There are several other things that were discussed, but I don't feel should be shared at this time.

Auburn is good, and once the firestorm dies down and all of the speculation calms, we can get back to DWWD.  I expect the backlash from this will be pretty intense towards ESPN and others, so I also expect there to be some major backtracking on the story rather soon, which you may notice has already begun.

Bond's story is not true.  He has already gone from

Rogers asked for money from me

to

Rogers talked to someone who talked to someone who talked to Bond.

I don't doubt there was some shady stuff going on at MS. I would even bet that Cecil Newton got an idea of what was going on and that's why Cam ended up at AU... I keep thinking back to what he said about not wanting Cam to be a "rented mule". Most people thought he meant that he didn't want Cam having to shoulder a whole team, but I think he was hinting that he didn't want Cam being bought and paid for... Think about it, if MS had paid 200k for Cam, aren't they essentially renting him for 2 years?...

I also don't think AU would play Cam just because they couldn't find any evidence of this... That's just not enough to risk a season. I think something spooked Cecil around MS and that's why he is at AU. I also believe that if something did indeed scare Cecil away from MS, AU is 100% aware of it..... just my .02

Exactly my thoughts. Yet, people want to make it strange that Cecil was the one who chose Auburn though Cam wanted MSU. All Cecil was doing was protecting Cam. They fail to interpret the 'rented mule' comment correctly. Think, if MSU reported it immediately, it stands to reason that they spoke with Cecil about this.

ESPN looks now to be trying to use this situation to have the "Pay for play in college football is rampant conversation."  The problem is they are having this conversation with Cam highlights running in the background which makes it appear that Auburn paid for Cam.  Mark S. is now in front of JHS filing live reports on how rampant pay for play is.

This whole thing makes me sick.

I would love for the Auburn Officials at the Press Gate to confiscate his press pass and not let him in the stadium.

then our public relation escorts(Golf's friends from Jersey) could show him to his special viewing area. ;D
