After what we went through with some recruits who picked us but signed with the dark side, I'm not counting any players until they sign and send in that paper. That way I don't get my hopes  up then have them crash to the ground like a ball of flames.

Why is that a surprise? He's in Dallas Texas right? And that's UT? I would think somebody like that is at least going to take a look at Texas, that doesn't mean he's committed to them now. It just means he's a good football player to UT.
