Auburn vs. Arkansas RUBBER GAME

Recommended Posts

With Auburn tying the series yesterday, this conference series lies in the arm of Auburn ace Derek Varnadore. After a very strong outing from Will Irvin yesterday, the Tigers look to seal the deal today. Like I said yesterday, the Tigers have yet to lose an opening SEC series while JP is the coach. Let's hope today doesn't change that. Before the game today, the 1967 World Series team will be honored at Plainsmen, so if you're heading there, come early and stay late. WDE

Here's the lineup. Same as yesterday.

1. Hargs

2. Fradejas

3. CMac

4. Gamache

5. Gilmer

6. TC

7. KP

8. Beisner

9. Creede

P: Varnadore

Ran ourselves out of a possible big 2nd inning. Failed to execute a bunt and got caught in a pitch-out/ run down situation. Hargett got caught too far off the bag. Regardless, we tack on another and now lead 2-0 going to the 3rd.

Nothing doing for arky. Varnadore retired the first 2 hitters and then promptly plunked the next 2. He got the final out on a fly ball to Creede Simpson in center. 4-1 to the bottom of the 5th.

Double to start the inning, rbi single for the next batter. 4-2 Auburn with a runner on 1st with 0 outs. Zach Blatt coming in for Varnadore. Outstanding showing for Varnadore today. Bullpen needs to nail it down for us now.

Base hit makes it 5-4. Blatt is pulled. This is our own doing so far guys. We have had countless opportunities to break the game open and have failed to do so. Correction, Coach P came out but made no change. It appears he was just wanting a chat with the home plate umpire. Yet another correction, Blatt indeed is pulled after a sacrifice bunt. Sorry for the confusion.

I can hardly watch when our bullpen gets the ball. It just isn't very good, as evidenced by giving up 2 runs to Arky already to give the Hogs a 5-4 lead in the top of the 8th.

And where is Andrew Morris?

like I said.

too bad after such a good outing by Varnadore, going deep into the game and not getting any help here. need to get these guys out and get some runs.
