Alright, you all did great with the chili recipe a couple weeks ago. Does anyone have a recipe for Onion rings? I know I've seen talk about them in one of the Asylums that were blown up, but I can't remember what it was.

4 large onions sliced to 1/2 inch width and seperated.

1 dark, stout, highly flavored beer.

1 egg, beaten and lightly mixed with beer.

add sliced onions and refrigerate for an hour or so, the longer the more beer flavor.

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

3/4 buttermilk

1 tablespoon veg oil.

mix above and use as batter.

rings fry better if battered and refrigerated for an hour before frying.

Peanut oil works great with this for frying

Variations and the first one I highly recommend: After chilling battered rings, use either finely ground bread, panko crumbs or flour and dredge again to add a crunch to finished ring.

Variations to batter mix:

Drops of hot sauce to taste

1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder or garlic salt.

Drain fried rings and lightly salt if desired (yep).

This crowd cleans these things out every time I make them, I hope you like and enjoy.

I loved the quote, but that man is soooooooooooooooooooo, not to be trusted, he has done some good things, but he isn't A snake in the grass, he is THE snake in the grass. Powerful as hell though ( a nasty Howard Baker former Tn senator, though Baker is a decent man.)

We've got to work on making a dipping sauce for those onion rings, one like they have a Cheeburger with horseradish.
