3 AU hits and 3 runs...pretty efficient....but let a run score on an error in the 9th....the team just has not gotten people on base tonight...not looking too good to pull this one out....but you never know I guess

The throwing error came in a grounder to third. Short threw wide of first.

Haecker grounds it to first but deep. Only play is to first with Schaefer now on 2nd. Anfernee Grier up.

On a strange play, grounder to third baseman, third baseman nearly misses Schaefer in a run down but barely gets him. That's your ball game. The 5 game streak is over as the cheatin red tide wins 4-3.

So, the game ends with an AU runner, that wasn't forced, caught in a rundown at 3rd? Oh, well. Thanks for the updates.

Well, it was either the third baseman throw it to first with a fast runner or try to get the tag for the third out. Schaefer needed to delay his move a bit between second and third to force the throw.

3 hits. Not gonna get it done. Also, a lot of bats staying on shoulders tonight like they're scared of even taking a hack.

Correct, a team is not going to win many games in which they only get three hits. We're probably lucky to have scored three runs. Plus, ending the game by a baserunner running himself into an unforced tag shouldn't happen at the college level.

Yep....and it's early yet..but base running this year is worse than last season. Other than Grier, there does not seem to be much foot-speed on the team and the theory of forcing the other team to "make a play" can burn you when each run is so valuable.

At least it was a freshman making the mistake last night instead of a 4 year player. No excuses. Like you guys have said, 3 hits won't get it done.
