You may be right, but this one has all of the markings of a "0".

It starts with a ridiculous and unsubstantiated claim by an Iranian. Then, assuming the claim is true, changes to the evil republicans again trying to obstruct Obama and then turns to bashing Christians. Congratulations! You have succeeded again in helping to make this once informative forum a complete waste of time. You should pat yourself on the back.

If this article was based on ridiculous and unsubstantiated rumors like you claim, you already had a mindset that this thread was a waste of time even before I started posting. Stahp

You are correct about my mindset. I don't know what difference that makes. I don't blame you for starting the worthless thread or for derailing it. You just took it next level. Again, congratulations! I don't know what "Stahp" means, but I will assume it is a compliment. Thanks!

@jeff - I know damn well about history, but your interjecting the Puritans has nothing to do with the thread topic .

So was Thomas Jefferson evil too?

Sure sounds like your making a case for it....HOW???!!

that or your making a case that the iranian government and their ways are OK....one of the two....

I'm certainly not calling Jefferson or the Iranian people evil. The exact opposite. You must be slow.Only person calling anybody evil around here is Raptor.

Try again Gomer. PT was the one who said " evil ".

You are right. Y'all carry the same torch though and often sound like each other. But you are the one who asked "If Iran's practices are not evil, then what is" or something similar. So it's obvious that you consider the Iranians just as evil as he does.

And yes, I do consider the practices of murder evil in nature. I don't neccesarily think that makes the people evil though.

I do.

And when speaking of Iran, those who captured our sailors & aired the videos , they are evil. The govt is who I speak of, no " everyone " who is Iranian.

Obama should have backed the Green revolution in Iran, but then Obama is a ***** .

I'm going to disagree. Whether we talk about he "Puritan work ethic" or about the "city upon a hill," Puritanism helped create the foundations for America.

Yet the largest denomination of Christianity in colonial America wasn't Calvinists or Puritans, but Anglicans (later Episcopalians). Did they have some influence? Yes. But let's not exaggerate what it was.

Gettin into this topic is very interesting but mostly irrelevant. In Thomas Jefferson's code of laws, he had a law where men had to be castrated if they committed adultery and other similar laws to what Iran has today. So was Thomas Jefferson evil too?

You want to judge people in 2016 against 18th century mores and vice versa? Not sure that really works. Jefferson was a product of his time.

So are the 2016 Iranians.

Ok then. Why did the republicans try to delay the prisoner exchange? After you explain that. You can try and tell me why Iran is "evil." Shouldn't Saudi Arabia be "evil" too? Or do they get off the hook because of their oil?

Not saying it did happen nor that it didnt. I am just very skeptical of the Iranians.

They watch the news. They know they can screw with half of America with just 10-15 words.

The prisoner who gained perhaps the most attention was Saeed Abedini, a convert from Islam to Christianity who became a pastor and was visiting his parents in Iran. Many evangelical leaders called on Obama to work for his release, one of whom was his wife who eventually backed down her support.

In November, Naghmeh Abedini began to back away from her high-profile role in the campaign, telling supporters by email that her husband had been abusive to her and she can “no longer live a lie.” Christianity Today published two emails Naghmeh Abedini sent to supporters about her troubled marriage, which began in 2004.

She confirmed that she had experienced “physical, emotional, psychological, and sexual abuse through her husband’s addiction to pornography.” She wrote at the time, “The abuse started early in their marriage and has worsened during Saeed’s imprisonment,” which she confirmed on Saturday. The two had been speaking by phone and through Skype, but she said she has not spoken with him since October.

She said the timing of those emails, which were leaked to media, was unfortunate.

All the Christian Today piece did was repeat what had been reported by the Iranian site, and added its own commentary.

:gofig:

Don't see any " there " there.

If this is directed towards me, you should notice that I only said it was reported. I inserted no opinion into either of my posts.

Are you the " Christian Today " author ? I'm betting no. It was directed at the article you linked, not YOU.

Well, not directly. The attempt by you to pile on is sorta funny.

Wow. That is beyond messed up.

People being hand fed and patted on the head by Iranian leaders feeding them propaganda is beyond messed up. The Iranians have so much to gain if bernie or hillary are elected. It's amazing anyone would fall for this.

It all goes back to when soon-to-be VP GHW Bush took a top secret flight in an SR-71 to meet w/ the Iranians to hammer out a deal to release the hostages as soon as Reagan was inaugurated into office.

( Which is funny because as a private citizen, at the time, he'd not have access to an SR-71 ! )
