Podany singles back up the middle.  Dowell, comes around 3rd and slides in safely at home ahead of the throw.    Podany takes 2nd on the throw home.   5-3 tigers.  1 out.  Draper up.

Draper grounds to short, throw to 1st in time.  Podany moves to 3rd.   2 outs for Casey McCrackin

kentucky gets a run back but Martin closes the door.   Tigers lead 5-4 going to bottom 5th.   Shea, Veach and Tannon Snow coming up

Shea grounder to short, backhanded attempt and it gets by the shortstop and into shallow left.  Shea safe at 1st.  Kendall Veach up.

It's rather apparent that the "pitch to contact" idea is still firmly in place and the emphasis on K's isn't so much. Maybe we'll have to recruit some strikeout pitchers before the change in thinking is valid. Our two big guns are exceptional pitchers, but neither one was recruited or trained to be high in the strikeout dept.

Martin having a rough time today.....nice play to prevent a run and get another out...but tie runner is on base...

Except the fact that the strikeout numbers are up based on number of innings pitched. 

Carlson
2016 - 131 IP 71 strikeouts
2017 - 206 IP 117 Strikeouts
2018 so far: 113 IP and 85 strikeouts

Martin
2016 - 116 IP 64 strikeouts
2017 - 155 IP 105 Strikeouts
2018 so far:  83 IP 69 strikeouts

And nice defensive play keeps Kats off the board with two runners left on base...and AU still up 5-4 

Would be nice to stretch the lead a bit ...

Think I might consider Carlson right now.....or have a pretty quick hook for Martin.  UK has knocked her around a bit.
