ellitor 33,093
Recruiting video chat about 30 minutes. Highlights summed below. https://www.facebook.com/AuburnUndercover/videos/642552369578028/ -A main focus Sunday was Auburn’s red-hot summer. As of July 7, the Tigers have seven commitments since June 1 and have risen significantly in the 247Sports recruiting team rankings. All of a sudden, a top-10 class is possible but it probably will take a strong season by Auburn on the field to achieve that. Most impressive is Auburn’s 4-star average rating per commit. -The Tigers are doing particularly well at linebacker and receiver, but don’t sleep on their work along the offensive line. No, there aren’t any top-100 recruits, but the Tigers have big needs at tackle and have two of them committed. One of those tackles, Jonathan Buskey, is a junior college player who could be a Day-1 starter. The other, 4-star Javion Cohen, may need some seasoning, but his ceiling is high. All told, it’s a solid group of four commits with two ore three spots still left to fill. -Who could be next to commit? Three people to watch: Offensive tackles Brenden Coffey and Jeremiah Wright, along with defensive end/tackle Andy Boyking. Coffey, the No. 2 tackle in the country, told us a couple weeks ago the Tigers led by a wide margin. Oregon, though, is very much in the mix. Wright and Boykin both have Auburn in the lead and Niebuhr thinks those leads are significant. 17COMMENTS -What’s the latest on 4-star running back target Tank Bigsby? While not selling South Carolina short, Niebuhr thinks it’ll come down to Auburn and Georgia. Bigsby visited the Tigers four times in June. Also, though, he took a very quiet trip to see the Bulldogs. They’re climbing, no doubt about that. -Auburn’s work at linebacker since June 14 is terrific. Niebuhr shares his thoughts in particular on the additions of top-100 recruits Trenton Simpson and Wesley Steiner to the class. Simpson has 5-star potential. Steiner might be the most athletic recruit in the country. Both are top-100 prospects..
toddc 13,194
VIP Recruiting Buzz: A new name at DE? ByKEITH NIEBUHR 21 hours ago Share9 Comments Three-star DE Stephen Sings. (Photo: Hudl) Stephen Sings is high on Auburn. He hopes the feeling will be mutual. The Tigers offered Sings, a 3-star weak-side defensive end/buck from Charlotte (N.C.) Vance, in May. Now, he’d like to visit Auburn in the near future. According to Sings, he communicates with Tigers defensive line coach Rodney Garner and the feedback is positive. “I don’t know yet (when he’ll visit), but hopefully soon,” Sings said. ‘I like them a lot. I don’t know if they want me a lot.” The answer to that should come if and when Sings, who is listed at 6-feet-4, 225 pounds, visits the Tigers. Auburn will host multiple recruits the final week of July, which is a short break in between month-long dead period. The Tigers have a recruit picnic planned for July 27. Evan Watkins of VT Scoop, the 247Sports Virginia Tech site, wrote this Wednesday: Sings “is debating visiting either Virginia Tech, Oregon or Auburn on July 27, a visit that could be a huge indication into where he is leaning with a decision on the horizon. Sings currently plans to announce his college decision on August 3 between Virginia Tech, Auburn, Oregon, UCF and East Carolina, though ECU is falling while North Carolina is making a push for him recently. Virginia Tech has been the announced leader since visiting in June, but Oregon was considered a dream school as a child. Virginia Tech, Auburn, and Oregon are the three main teams to watch in this recruitment right now. 9COMMENTS Saturday, though, Sings claimed to have no leader. So if Auburn pushes, it sounds like the Tigers might have a chance. Right now, Auburn has only one defensive lineman committed. The Tigers do, however, lead for 4-star end/tackle Andy Boykin of LaGrange (Ga.) Troup County.

And since he doesn't really know what level of interest AU has in him he goes in the recruiting thread for now. If he becomes a major target later then he will get a thread. Roos 122
How come it is, that we are in the "silent period", but Alabama gets 3 commits on the day Saban talks and A&M gets a quarterback? And Auburn we get none...…...…..just doesn't make any sense we should get at least 1, shouldn't we?

We are in a dead period. This Dead period started on June 24th & We have gotten 2 commits during the period/ Capers & Steiner. Also there is no such thing as a silent period. Recruiting is still full throttle in the dead period. It's just not face to face for the most part.
Roos 122
Oh I thought you could not contact the recruits, well that even makes it more frustrating that we did not get a commit during Media days, well my frustration to live with...………………... The schools can't make any announcements about them. Commits during media days don't happen much for many teams historically.
auburn4ever 1,266
Since King has committed to A&M, who are other top QB's that Auburn's recruiting for 2020?

Since we have Garnett committed we may not take a second quarterback in the class now. If we decide to names will pop up eventually.
WarEagle2423 357
Saw where Omari Porter committed to Stanford. Were we not recruiting him? Isn’t that Larry Porter’s son? Feel like since it’s a weak db class that we could’ve at least taken a chance on him.

Often times a school where a dad is currently coaching is not the best fit for the son to go to school. Also he’s a corner and I think we are in a better place to get two corners the staff wants or likes than two safeties from the high school pool in the class. McLoofus 35,182
Also, if I'm Larry Porter, I'm telling my kid there's no way in hell he's going to Auburn if a paid-for Stanford degree is on the table.

Cardin Drake 1,828
I can understand this is a kid whose position is not certain in college. He will most likely need a redshirt year to add muscle to his frame. But he's an athlete (basketball and track), and I have a feeling he will be a very good college football player. I hope we are able to get him.

Agreed on your assessment of him but as of now the staff likes him as an LB & we are done at LB for now unless we can get Webb or the kid who just reclassified to 2020 from 2021. Now if Pegues grows into a DL which is very possible , we could take him as a TE eventually.
