After a relatively slow start to the 2020 recruiting cycle, Auburn seems to now have things in high gear.

With five commitments thus far in June, the Tigers have jumped 12 spots to No. 17 in the 247Sports Class rankings. All told, there are 11 commitments on board, six of whom are 4-star recruits.

As of Friday, Auburn commits have an average rating of 89.99 in the industry generated 247Sports Composite, which is right at the 4-star cutoff number of 90.

Thus far, one could argue the Tigers have done their best work at receiver, where 4-stars J.J. Evans and Kobe Hudson are the headliners. Two 4-star linebackers, including Trenton Simpson, the No. 52 recruit in the country, give the Tigers a solid foundation there. On the offensive line, there are positive signs. Auburn needs to sign six or seven recruits and already has four on board.

Of course, the work for Gus Malzahn and Co. is far from over. The Tigers need a running back, a tight end, two more offensive tackles, another linebacker, three or four defensive linemen and at least that many in the secondary to fill the class. But right now, there are signs that if Auburn continues at its recent pace and has a good season, a top-10 type of class could be within reach.

For now, here's a look at the class as things stand today ...
