Actually - except for the "inherently evil" part  - that's not all that far from what I did say.

Democrats were the party of racism.  That switched completely to the Republican Party in the 60's with LBJ's support of the Civil Rights Act and the "Southern Strategy" of Nixon. 

And that's where things reside today.
