Baseball vs Florida

Recommended Posts

Game 1 in and 10-1 over current #2 FL. Great game any way you slice it tonight. Enjoyed this from down in NOLA. Game better than crawfish and beer.

Box score not posted yet.

WDE!

Great start. Irish is going to be really special. His swing is very distinct. Very Pete Rose/Wade Boggs like. And kudos to Cannon/Baumann/Isbell. Did their job and set us up to have ample arms the next 2 games.

Keep in mind Florida averaging 10 runs per game. Strong in any league.

This was a very pleasant surprise. I've been thinking that our team is better than what the early record shows. Here's hoping the corner has been turned!

Besides that, he's got a great baseball name. "Ike Irish" is nothing if not catchy. The writers will love it.

I really feel like with a healthy Gonzalez this team would be very competitive all season. Without him we’re having to piece together our pitching rotation. Some weeks that will work and others it won’t.

13-8 Gators now. Walks have killed us.  Pitiful effort by the bullpen. Hayden Murphy in now and is at least throwing strikes. Offensively we’ve hit well overall but the last two AU hitters struck out with sad whiffs at the ball. This team played hard until until two innings ago and now look like they’re ready to go home. Butch needs to recruit better pitchers.

Up 8-3 and then 14 unanswered. Ridiculous. Bullpen and coaching late in games is killing us. Runner on first and 1 out in a tie game with three innings left, you play for a DP, maybe bring corners in. Pitcher gets the weak grounder we needed but we are out of position as if it is the 9th inning. That’s on coach.

This season is mostly abut the best pitcher on our team not throwing.   The margin is so slim a team can't afford to lose a key contributor much less your Friday night starter.   If Gonzo pitches this weekend, we win a series on the road to number 3.

The loss of Gonzalez has been hugely impactive, no doubt.  But Auburn lost a lot of very good pitchers after last season (Blake Burkhalter, Mason Barnett, Trace Bright, Carson Skipper, and Hayden Mullins were all selected in the 2022 MLB draft).  The bullpen this year doesn't compare (yet, any way).

Our pitching sucks. We are really missing Tim Hudson this year.

See Golden Eagle's post above.   Huddy is a good one, no doubt, but this is about the Jimmy's and the Joe's.

Nail on the head. “Margin slim” so right. Florida pitcher misses his “spot” 4” and results are a Bryson multi run homer for us.

WDE anyway. Lots of baseball left to enjoy this year.

was really hoping for a series upset here as a confidence booster, but yikes.  game 3---13 walks and 3 hit batters is unfathomable and insurmountable.

@SaltyTigeris the tall freshman keschock kid throwing any?

Not Salty but Keschock got Kerocked by UGA.   Did not record an out and gave up 7 earned.
