I don’t!! Based on timing of increased rumor around newest target. Those rumors typically start leaking out shortly before announcements (in past). Paves the way for noise to quiet down before teal announcement.

After this is over, I would love to know why Scott Symons isn’t even being mentioned or considered. Did something go sour with him and Freeze? This should be a no-brainer based on what he did at Libery with Freeze and now at SMU…

No one knows anything. That's clear.

People are trying to use thier brains and context clues to form an educated guess

He seems like he'd be a solid option. He has a good defense after leaving Liberty

Kiffin

But if he’s not available, anyone who was not accused of player abuse should be in front of Durkin on the short list.

FWIW...if Symons were hired by Freeze, then he'd have my full support. Freeze is going to make or break it with his hires, so he should get who he believes will succeed. Similar to Harsin with Kiesau and Schmedding, those hires were full of nepotism, but Harsin rolled the dice on his guys.

This isn't directed at you or anyone in particular, but while Symons has an impressive resume, I personally don't believe he has the experience that one needs to be DC in the SEC.

This place was DEFCON 1 when Freeze was announced. Durkin will be forgiven too. In fact, he already has everywhere he’s been.

Calling a sex hotline is one thing. Causing the death of a player is something else.

You could read ESPN’s timeline of events and investigation if you have an interest in what happened.

According to all of the investigative info he didn’t cause the players death.

He was also found to have not created a hostile atmosphere according to the results of the investigation.

Like others discussed above, Greg Pratt died practicing under Dye. So Dye and/or his assistant(s) caused Pratt to die?

Have you seen "Swamp Kings"? There were scores of FL players who were pushed to the brink by Meyer and staff. Was Meyer trying to cause death?

In recent memory, there's been two college bball players who nearly died due to pre-existing heart conditions. If either or both had died at practice or a game (Keyontae Johnson nearly did) prior to a pre-existing heart condition ever surfacing, it automatically gets ruled as the coach causing death?

Meyer is not a good example here. He's such an awful guy that he's out of work, despite being a clear winner. His locker room at UF was a complete mess and he was fired by Jacksonville, in part, for kicking a player. Coincidentally (or not?), Durkin came up under Meyer.

Pratt died 40 years ago. Thankfully, player safety has come a long way since then.

Regardless of all this, the Durkin thing is also about the reaction to the player's death. When Durkin was reinstated, players walked out of a team meeting and tweeted against him. He completely lost the team, based on the culture he initially created and the response to the death. Dye never lost his team.

As you pointed out, we already have a controversial HC. Is it too much to ask to hire a DC with a clean past? Especially when we just fired a DC with a known history of being abrasive, who, shockingly, had trouble getting along with people at AU.

Durkin, solid coordinator.  Attacking style defense.  Defense was not why A&M didn't win 10 or 11 games this year.  He had one bad game and fixed that (after Miami).    He's active on the sidelines.

Too much entitlement with kids. They feel like they and their parents call the shots now at most programs. Wasn’t that way 40 years ago. Can you see any player revolting against Dye?

If Durkin’s “blackballing” by Maryland players was that bad, he wouldn’t have been hired by Ole Miss and Texas A&M. He would have been sent to Liberty to rehab first.
