Andre Smith

Auburn Seer

Recommended Posts

Getting Andre is very unlikely. He will probably end up at Bama. He said that the Iron Bowl helped Auburn but didnt hurt Bama either. He is going to take all his visits and probably announce his decision on signing day. He is planning to take a trip to USC soon. I would say our chances of getting him away from Bama are not very good but you never know.

word has it that he was walking around his visit asking our commits if they were really sure they wanted to go to Auburn. He got a resounding YES but it seems a little wierd. Kinda stinks that it seems he was only there to recruit for Bama.

Chance of us getting him 0%

It was reported on Auburnfootball.com that Smith's uncle was almost escorted out after repeatedly trying to start Bama cheers.

One guy who posts there seems to have inside knowledge and writes about chatting with some of the prospects.

That really does stink, but the greatest news there is that he did get that resounding YES from all of the commits. I think they will be just as well off with Tilley anyway, as he is ranked very highly and is considered to be still learning the game. They say he has only been playing organized football for 3-4 years now. His upside is enormous.

Ok, I found basically what he said on Scout.

http://auburn.scout.com/2/470114.html

”It was a great experience,” Smith tells Inside The Auburn Tigers. “I had fun watching two in-state teams battle for a victory. Luckily Auburn won this year. I hate to see a game like that (lopsided) because it was getting good towards the end when Alabama was trying to make a run.

Getting good when Alabama was trying to make a run?!

That doesn't sound like something somebody that was checking out Auburn would say.

... Plus, I hope he didn't think that trash touchdown off a hail mary at the end was a "run".

Hey Guys, if what we heard is true.................WE DON"T WANT HIM! He is obviously very HIGH on himself anyhow by his school choices other than Auburn and there is no "I" in Team..... He reminds me of Jerrell Powe last year although he probably won't wind up like him academically. There is a thin line between egotistical players who hold out until the last minute for the best deal and visit places they've never been and those who are actually trying to make a wise decision about their future....Wonder which category Andre is in? I see him as a Bammer! ;)

I have no idea what is true or untrue in regard to the kid, but he did say, "Luckily Auburn won this year."

None of this happened, Andre Smith was well behaved and left on good terms with the AU coaches.

Guest Tigrinum Major

I know one of his assistant coaches at Huffman and what some are saying about him being full of himself and other such things isn't true. This guy reports that he is a good kid with a good head on his shoulders. He is a Bama lean, but that shouldn't be reason to start trashing the kid. Wish him well and tell him that he missed out on a great experience at Auburn. Then let Bart Eddins or McClover or Gunn blow past him next year on a beeline to whoever Bama's QB will be.

"I just couldn't get away from him, coach!"

- Davidson DLineman after getting pancaked 15 yards back by Andre Smith

If the Iron Bowl isn't going to convine him to go to Auburn, nothing will. He saw Tiger Walk, us beating the crap out of 'Bama, and the rolling of Toomer's Corner. What more does he want?!

I don't know but I read on another Auburn site this morning (premium site) that after Smith's and his uncle's behavior during their visit to Auburn that we were no longer even recruiting him. Sone article in the papers, including the Huntsville Times said Smith and his uncle were actually talking to the other visitors telling them they should go to bama. The uncle was supposedly asked to leave the sideline.

How many times do people have to say THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN before it begins to register.

No offense, PT, but you're recycling a rumor that has been repeatedly snopsed. It's a UA plant to make AU look bad.

This was reported in one of the newspapers. With an attitude like this I wouldn't want this fellow at Auburn. We at AU actually have class players and a class program that shows. While the other school up the road can only tlak about class because it definitely doesn't show in their program.

He's not visiting FSU. He may visit AU.

CHANGE OF PLANS

Florida State fans were hopeful Andre Smith, considered the nation's top offensive lineman, would make FSU one of his final two visits before National Signing Day on Feb. 1. That doesn't appear to be the case, however.

Smith, of Birmingham, Ala., visited Alabama over the weekend. Smith said he plans to visit LSU this weekend and either Auburn, Florida or Mississippi on Jan. 27. Despite marking off FSU from his visit list, Smith said the Seminoles remain among his favorites.
