I apologize for the lack of post. The transcript can be found at CNN.com/lou. Here is a sample.

DOBBS: President Bush's family and members of the Bush administration have long-standing business connections with the United Arab Emirates, and those connections are raising new concerns and questions tonight in some quarters about why the president is defying his very own party leadership and his party in defending the Dubai port deal.

CHRISTINE ROMANS: The oil-rich United Arab Emirates is a major investor in The Carlyle Group, the private equity investment firm where President Bush's father once served as senior adviser and is a who's who of former high-level government officials. Just last year, Dubai International Capital, a government-backed buyout firm, invested in an $8 billion Carlyle fund.

Another family connection, the president's brother, Neil Bush, has reportedly received funding for his educational software company from the UAE investors. A call to his company was not returned.

Then there is the cabinet connection. Treasury Secretary John Snow was chairman of railroad company CSX/. After he left the company for the White House, CSX sold its international port operations to Dubai Ports World for more than a billion dollars.

In Connecticut today, Snow told reporters he had no knowledge of that CSX sale. "I learned of this transaction probably the same way members of the Senate did, by reading about it in the newspapers."

Another administration connection, President Bush chose a Dubai Ports World executive to head the U.S. Maritime Administration. David Sanborn, the former director of Dubai Ports' European and Latin American operations, he was tapped just last month to lead the agency that oversees U.S. port operations.

Follow the money.

Are you really that surprised? It's a well known tactic of the libs to resort to name calling when they have nothing else in their arsenal.

You're a poo poo head, BF!

That's why I almost feel sorry for those guys. Seriously. Vitriol and cynicism is all they seem to be full of anymore. Were it not for their schadenfreude obsession w/ all things Bush, they'd all be lost. More last than they are now.

Yea, I have some. Let's install a dunderhead into the White House. Push through major tax cuts so the war profiteers we pay with a credit card (i.e. - deficit spending) can have dividends and not owe taxes on said payments. Start an illegal war in Iraq to further those payments. And then, pump up the stock of a British company that controls 6 U.S. ports; sell it to an Arab Government owned company, so Bushco. can blame the nucular blast on them. The citizens of the U.S. will blame the Arabs, thus perpetuating the deficit spending, which enriches those no-bid contractors that are supplying our troops and supposedly rebuilding all of the stuff Bushco. blows up. Then we can declare financial bankruptcy, again. :cheer: Sound like a plan? Well, that's what they are doing. So, where do you think the nucular blast will take place? I'm thinking Austin, Texas. Some are saying Des Moines, Iowa.

Don't take my word for it. But, maybe read a little histroy.

"The real menace of our republic is this invisible government which like a giant octopus sprawls its slimy length over city, state and nation. Like the octopus of real life, it operates under cover of a self created screen... At the head of this octopus are the Rockefeller Standard Oil interests and a small group of powerful banking houses generally referred to as international bankers. The little coterie of powerful international bankers virtually run the United States government for their own selfish purposes. They practically control both political parties." -New York City Mayor John F. Hylan, 1922

"From the days of Sparticus, Wieskhopf, Karl Marx, Trotsky, Rosa Luxemberg, and Emma Goldman, this world conspiracy has been steadily growing. This conspiracy played a definite recognizable role in the tragedy of the French revolution. It has been the mainspring of every subversive movement during the 19th century. And now at last this band of extraordinary personalities from the underworld of the great cities of Europe and America have gripped the Russian people by the hair of their head and have become the undisputed masters of that enormous empire." -Winston Churchill, l922.

"Today the path of total dictatorship in the United States can be laid by strictly legal means, unseen and unheard by the Congress, the President, or the people. Outwardly we have a Constitutional government. We have operating within our government and political system, another body representing another form of government a bureaucratic elite." -Senator William Jenner, 1954

"The Council on Foreign Relations is "the establishment." Not only does it have influence and power in key decision making positions at the highest levels of government to apply pressure from above, but it also announces and uses individuals and groups to bring pressure from below, to justify the high level decisions for converting the U.S. from a sovereign Constitutional Republic into a servile member state of a one world dictatorship." -Congressman John Rarick 1971

And, most recently General Franks:

According to TIME magazine, On November 21, 2003, Tommy Franks said that in the event of another terrorist attack, the Constitution may be discarded under martial law in favor of a military state. His quote:

Discussing the hypothetical dangers posed to the U.S. in the wake of Sept. 11, Franks said that “the worst thing that could happen” is if terrorists acquire and then use a biological, chemical or nuclear weapon that inflicts heavy casualties.

If that happens, Franks said, “... the Western world, the free world, loses what it cherishes most, and that is freedom and liberty we’ve seen for a couple of hundred years in this grand experiment that we call democracy.”

Franks then offered “in a practical sense” what he thinks would happen in the aftermath of such an attack.

“It means the potential of a weapon of mass destruction and a terrorist, massive, casualty-producing event somewhere in the Western world – it may be in the United States of America – that causes our population to question our own Constitution and to begin to militarize our country in order to avoid a repeat of another mass, casualty-producing event. Which in fact, then begins to unravel the fabric of our Constitution. Two steps, very, very important.”

____________________________________________________________________

                                              Martial Law

Many folks accept, some with a sense of high probability, that the US will suffer a terrorist attack, perhaps of horrific proportions. If that happens, as General Tommy Franks and others have suggested, democracy could well fail and the US Constitution could be brought down and replaced by martial law. An attack would leave a terrified US populace, many of them so desperate for a sense of order, so lustful for revenge against the terrorists (to be identified by the War Machine, of course) that they will follow the US Government in lockstep. Nuke Iran and Syria immediately (as neocons have wanted to do for quite some time)? No problem. Arrest and intimidate anyone who dares speak out against the government? Hey, national security is at stake. Vigilantism waged against dissident “traitors”? We’re fighting for the survival of Western civilization, for God’s sake.

When Americans No Longer Own America

by Thom Hartmann

The Dubai Ports World deal is waking Americans up to a painful reality: So-called "conservatives" and "flat world" globalists have bankrupted our nation for their own bag of silver, and in the process are selling off America.

Kewl, huh? :big:

                                            Ike Saw It Coming

"The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist," he said. "We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes." It was as if this president, who understood war as well or better than any American who ever lived, were somehow able to peer into the future and see the tail of the military-industrial complex wagging the dog of American life, with inevitably disastrous consequences.

The endless billions to be reaped from the horrors of war are a perennial incentive to invest in the war machine and to keep those wars a-coming. "His words have unfortunately come true," says Senator John McCain in the film. "He was worried that priorities are set by what benefits corporations as opposed to what benefits the country."

The way you keep the wars coming is to keep the populace in a state of perpetual fear. That allows you to continue the insane feeding of the military-industrial complex at the expense of the rest of the nation's needs. "Before long," said Mr. Jarecki in an interview, "the military ends up so overempowered that the rest of your national life has been allowed to atrophy."

First of all, not all Democrats/Libertarians are liberals, okay. Now that that is straightened out, I haven't received a refund in 4 years. I do pay taxes, but don't get the write-offs that most Americans get. I don't own a home or have children. I am a Conservative, just not a Republican, that's all. And, I DO NOT support this pResident. :au:

To make it clear, since sterotyping on this board is frequently used....I have no party affiliation. I just try a little harder than the majority to read inbetween the lines.

Actually, I figured most people who knew a little something about Bush and his family would already connect the dots with the carlyle group and the UAE. Welcome to the South, where opinions are not open and everyone walks on the straight line of conservative forced thought.

Then go up North where you will be received with open arms and an automatic nomination for a Nobel "Peace" Prize. I'm sure Hillary has the sheets turned down for you at this very moment.
