SEC Names 30 Auburn Athletes To Winter Academic Honor Roll

Women's swimming and diving leads the way with 10 honorees, while the men's team has nine.

AUBURN, Ala. - A total of 30 Auburn student-athletes have been named to the 2005-06 SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll announced by SEC Commissioner Mike Slive Thursday.

The 2005-06 SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2005 Spring, Summer and Fall terms.

The Auburn women's swimming and diving team led all Auburn teams for the winter with 10 athletes named to the honor roll. They include Anne Amardeilh (Hotel and Restaurant Management), Adrienne Binder (Criminology), Kara Denby (Zoology), Lauren Duerk (Biomedical Sciences), Kristen Hastrup (Biomedical Sciences), Leslie Lunsmann (Biomedical Sciences), Jeri Moss (Communication), Julie Stupp (Mass Communication), Christina Swindle (Hotel and Restaurant Management) and Erin Volcan (Finance/Spanish).

The men's swimming and diving team was right behind with nine honor roll members, including Seth Barry (Wildlife), George Bovell (Building Science), Kurt Cady (Civil Engineering), Andrew Callahan (Pre-Business), John Scott (Pre-Medicine), Steven Segerlin (Building Science), Eric Shanteau (Entrepreneurship and Family Business), Daniel Slocki (Entrepreneurship and Family Business) and Doug Van Wie (Graphic Design).

The gymnastics squad had seven members recognized including Nicole Barnett (Biomedical Sciences), Julie Dwyer (Accounting), Kayla Gies (Pre-Medicine), Aimee Goheen (Undeclared Liberal Arts), Danielle Holtz (Psychology), Karmen Pinckney (Elementary Education) and Jackie Smith (Fine Arts).

The women's basketball team was represented by Nitasha Brown (Business Administration), Marita Payne (Psychology) and Juanitta Wallace (Pre-Business), while Brett Howell (Accounting) was named to the honor roll from the men's basketball team.
