AU Consensus #4 Preseason

Hopefully 2003 is still in everyone's minds and they still have a bad taste in their mouths from the COB. Having a cool and collected QB like Cox will take them a long way, and if Herring and company can get the D to gel, it could be another special year.

#4.. Seems a little low to me.. they never see the amazing talent we have here. We have a damn fullback looking at heisman for christ sake... oh wait, that is UAT. Anyway.. I like that. Sounds good.. lets get this shiznit going with a win over Washington State.

#4 is too high, besides it doesn't mean squat. CTT can show that he has become

a better coach by stressing to the team and fans that these rankings are nothing but a distraction. The team needs to prepare like they are always the underdog,

or they will be.

That was one of the first things I thought, SL: Georgia is way too low, IMO.

DKW, will you please copy and paste the rankings....dang gov't firewall!!!

Remember that Q & A with Cox, he mentioned how many of the guys were around for the 2003 season. That makes me think they are going to have their heads on straight and come out ready to prove they deserve that recognition.

Interesting that Chokelahoma edged out TOSU and the Domers, afterall I thought that ESPN already declared those two in the National championship game.

I have to disagree with you about the fact that it doesn't mean squat. I will agree that I don't particularly care for pre-season rankings, but in the system we use in college football they mean everything - look at our '04 team - the only thing that prevented us from playing USC was a lower pre-season ranking than OU.

I agree that the coach needs to keep his players grounded and focused - but I personally like a high ranking and the hype that comes with it - it's free recruiting.

it actually means a lot. it's a lot easier to climb 3 spots than try to climb like 18 or whatever it was in 2004. I know that we shouldn't look at the big picture here because that killed us in 03, but that doesn't mean we can't use the ranking to our advantage like OU and USC in 04
