Wondering the opinion of this..... I know some of the members on this board have had extensive military service.

Simply, my opinion is this. Its wartime, totally different mindset with these young men.... I understand maybe one of the better members of your platoon just suffered horribly. What would be my gut instinct at the time if that happened to me??? Maybe even the same damn thing... yet I am not a trained marine.

So heres the thing... You have a person in a leadership role ordering this!? Its his job to keep control and efficiency within the group. What do you do if your a soldier and you are given a command to accomplish this task? What happens if you disobey?

I see no shame in what the soldiers were ordered to do. I see shame in the leader who commanded them.
