CFN Final Rankings

Their rankings have made the most sense all season, and you cannot argue too much with their reasoning about #1.

CFN Final Ranking

1. USC 12-1

Why USC is the 2004 CFN National Champion: With all factors being even in this beauty contest, USC is the 2003 CFN National Champion because 1) the Trojans beat Michigan with a better performance than LSU had in beating Oklahoma. 2) USC had as many wins over bowl teams than LSU (7-6 counting the bowl wins and even counting Georgia twice for the Tigers) and 3) USC’s three overtime loss to Cal was better than LSU’s home loss to a Florida team that was blasted in the Outback Bowl. It also helped USC’s cause that the Pac 10 had such a great post-season. The big knock on the Trojans was that the league was weak, but big wins by Washington State, Cal and Oregon State in the bowls helped make the USC blowout wins over the Cougars and Beavers look that much better. Every one of USC’s wins this year came by two touchdowns or more, while LSU had three wins by a touchdown or less. Yeah it’s splitting hairs, but someone has to be the national champion and someone has to be second.

By Bama standards, that means USC can now officially claim two MNCs!!!!

By AU standards, they can only claim it if they were on probation. ;);)

Has AU passed out their preseason National Champion rings yet?

Couldn't afford them this year, had to give Tubs a contract extension. :P:lol:

p.s. Congrats on the second consecutive NON-winning record in loserville.

Two years in a row that AU has won TWICE as many games.

Man, it must really be tough to try and prop up that snot nosed puppy's record.

I don't think Michigan belongs in the top 10.

BG....you just violated the rules. Article 14.2.3 says if your school doesn't receive a single point in the final poll you don't get to make any comments.

Texas A&M/Franchione 29 points

UTEP/Price 1 point

bama/Shula 0 points

So just cool it 'till next year, and insted of wasting your time on these boards, pray more, pray real hard :big:

7. Georgia 10-2

Considering how much talent the Dawgs had this year, seventh has to be considered a bit of a disappointment with losses to Tennessee and Georgia keeping this BCS caliber team from being among the elite of the elite. Even the win over Wisconsin in the Outback Bowl was underwhelming.

Well I guess Georgia did beat themselves in the Tennessee game.

The Utes were able to beat Texas A&M, but that was about it. If there had been any wins of note the rest of the way, Utah would deserve to finish with the number two spot. While this turned out to be the most dominant team this year, it’s a shame it didn’t get a chance to truly prove what it could do.

 Add one more tough win to Utah's schedule (let's say a Tenn. or something equivalent), and they would take our spot? OK, so we didn't put a couple of teams away when we had the chance (Bama, Tenn. in SECCG, VT). Was that the confidence killer? sheesh

note the horrendous statement they make re/UTAH. emphasis added.

implying a win over TAMU (a team UT just embarassed) and ________ makes them better than auburn & their wins over UT-2, lsu, uga, bama, et al?

hogwash.
