Say what you want about Nick. I'd bet my house he'd never wear a "Fear the Thumb" type t-shirt to his bowl game press conference.

Yep. I'd bet my house too that he'll never wear a "Fear the thumb" tee shirt...

ribbing your rivals is another thing totally. don't even try to say tuberville is anywhere near nick saban in a-hole-itude.

Whatever. If the shoe was on the other foot, you guys would absolutely LOSE it.

Regardless of how he treats the media, everyone already has him labled as Satan.

May as well bring home some hardware in the process.

Yeah, but he earned that reputation, it wasn't given to him.

I know I misspell every other word...at least, but it's nice to see even Captain Dick-tionary slip one in every once in a year.

Okay...carry on...

Yeah, besides, he probably won't be around long enough for five. Maybe he should concentrate on being even able to raise "one".

the question was asking CNS if he can bring recruits the caliber of Glenn Dorsey, etc to Alabama. the question is like asking a coach "do you think your team will lose this weekend?"

CNS responded that was the point in it all and went on to say he should bring his 16 year old daughter to the PC in the future because she could ask a better question.

looking at the commitments we have in CNS' first year, i would qualify the reporter's question as kind of a dumb question.

No. A simple, "yes, we can and we are -- next question" would have sufficed. It was a soft toss question and $aben revealed his snippity side by not simply answering it. What kind of asshat takes questions from his teenaged daughter at a press conference, btw? You bammies need to cut back on the kool-ade. He is not representing himself or your school very well by being so defensive all the time with the press.

He should be glad the press isn't asking more penetrating ones like, "How come your offense is so impotent that you guys can't gain more than 20 yds on the ground or complete more than 35% of your passes? Don't you feel dang lucky to have been in position to win that game? Have you sent the thank-you notes to the officiating crew from the Ole Miss game yet?"

i think it was meant to be a jab as well, but i wouldn't classify our offense as "impotent". if it is, then i guess AU's offense is horrid since our total offense is ranked higher in the SEC (we are #6 total offense...still better than last year). also, if you minus out the sack yardage counting against our rushing, we rushed for just as much as LSU did in that game. so i guess their offense is "impotent". also, JPW is completing 55% of his passes.....not 35%. if the press had asked questions exactly as you phrased, they would be stupid questions due to the fact that the premise they are based off of is incorrect.

14 out of 40 is 35%, not 55%, math whiz. 20 yds rushing is pitiful no matter how you look at it. Wait, I take that back: if you had about -230 yds in sacks then I suppose 20 yds net rushing would be decent. Perahps if Wilson had hung onto to the ball instead of flinging it away on his last possesion, uat might have ended up with single digit rushing yards. The irony is that they would possibly have won the game if he did. Then maybe your coach wouldn't be in such a prissy mood with the press. I do wish the reporters would ask him some critical questions, though. All the hoopla over this moral victory and being one 4th down stop away from winning the West is clouding the picture of any objective analysis -- uat was lucky to have cacught LSU sleepwalking through a sub-par perrformance.

He won't get the chance.

Besides, why settle for tweaking a rival a little when you can go for complete d***head and belittle people trying to do their job?

Kind of like belittling the 18-22 year olds you just beat for the 4th straight time.

Yeah, I see your point.

That's a pretty sad argument, especially for you.

Four fingers held up for your fans? A t-shirt worn at a bowl game? Please. You know as well as I do that was to tweak Bama fans and it's primary purpose was to delight Auburn fans. Hardly the same thing as Saban's habitual asshat behavior to media members who don't ask the questions he likes.

18-22 year old kids.

Kids?

Let's see - an 18 year old can go to war and kill people. He's old enough to vote. Old enough to live on his own. But not old enough to have the head coach of the rival team hold up four fingers to his own fans. The 18 year cries at night because of Tubby's gesture? Not buying that for one second.

*EDIT - The "kids" part is added in for the many people I've heard criticize Tubs's actions after the Iron Bowl a few years ago. Weird to think it's been a few years since he held up four fingers.

Now......Does everyone see why the Mullet/Woodshed Nation wants Tuberville to take the money and run? Because, Our Coach is cordial to the media, nice to his secretaries, and even says Good Mornin' to a passerby... And, He Wins Games. It's just killing the Window Lickers over in West Vance because they can't have a Head Coach, who doesn't have Hair Implants, that wins games and can be nice to the people at the same time.

I never understood the win at all costs mentality.

I thought football was a way to teach these kids right and wrong before they entered manhood and took their degree's or NFL drafts into the real world.

Do you want a guy who lies, cheats, and is a total jerk to everyone he loses his temper with for even a second taking care of your kids and leading them into adulthood?

Its not all about winning. Honestly. Alabama losing another Ironbowl and not getting to an SEC championship or NCG is only a real issue for jackhole boosters and fans. Enjoying some good natured fun sportsmanlike football is what it should be all about.

Bama fans have gotten so upside down in what they think matters they will pay 4 million for a snake oil salesman to come in and lie to them and make them believe their future contains a new Championship.

i'm talking about passing for the season. just because it may have been a bad game for passing isn't indicative of a bad season (signed, Brandon Cox). pardon me if i don't have a comeapart over being 14 of 40 and still scoring 34 points on the #1 defense in the SEC and the then #3 team in the country. if you look at the individual rushing stats from the LSU game we had almost as much as LSU had in that game. it is almost universally agreed upon that taking away from rushing yards because of sacks is dumb. BUT, we truly are having some problems running the ball as we're going up against some bigger opponents up front. with coffee out that hurts. in the LSU game JPW had like -20 something rushing yards i believe because of sacks on obvious passing plays. he made a few scrambles, one of them being about 15-20 yards. JPW didn't "fling" the ball away, his elbow hit the leg of the lineman. but i will give you that he should have secured the ball better.

speaking of the "catching LSU on a sub-par performance" issue, has anybody answered the question of where WarTim's "UAT will get KILLED by LSWho" thread went? i noticed that around the end of that game it was nuked. WarTim, mind answering that one since you've already avoided it a million times? nobody else seems to want to address that either.

If I were a Bama fan (Thank the Lord he spared me from that fate!), I'd be more concerned about how St. Nick's grating personality may affect more than merely reporters. What happens when his arrogance starts offending the parents of prospective recruits? Or he pisses off a player who knows where the skeletons are buried and wants to talk? Or loses his temper with a deep pocketed powerful booster/trustee? I think he's just one tantrum away from offending a big-time power behind the throne and starting a backroom power struggle among the Good Ol' Boys.

Someone should "archive" this post as one of THE posts that proves Alabama fans will pull moral victories out of their collective hiney, just to feel good about themselves.

Did you get up from your chair and thump your chest after describing your moral victory RWS????

I like where you at least gave a little "coaching" advice to JPW. "Secure the ball better".....well no Sh*t. I'm sure he'd put that in a memo Coach Scissors.

You are twisting facts. He did not wear it to a press conference. He wore it while traveling and had his picture taken with it on. The media was there on his arrival in Florida and he was asked some questions in the presence of some cameras.

Not a press conference.

That was weak.

Very weak.

Ok, if you are going to argue that, I will see your T-shirt and raise you a Rammer Jammer.

You can't have it both ways. Both actions could be viewed as belittling. Granted, Saban isn't leading the band and cheerleaders, but your fanbase can't whine and bitch about T shirts while screaming that "We just beat the hell outta you!"

Galen was wrong. Your arguments are weak. I say we keep PChamp.

That's right. Not only did CTT wear the shirt, but your fans sang Rammer Jammer and told us to go to hell when they sang it.

Forgot all about that.

So, you are saying that by slinging a cheer of your own back at you is belittling?

You admit that Rammer Jammer is classless and belittling?

Wow, I don't subscribe to your point of view. I thought it was all gamemanship and tradition.
