he cared enough to teach those guys to act like men. he was the first person to demand that of them in a long time. they learned discipline. they went to class. they got degrees, and now they are winning ballgames. if you gotta trip a man into puke to get that, so be it i suppose.

Big assumption that type of thing pushed them over the top. You can treat people with respect and still demand accountability.

They also sign up for this when they take advantage of the priviledge of playing college football. You are going to be pushed, degrading, ridiculed, etc. The respect and accountability comes when you win games. In the workplace, or lay public, I would say you are right. But here its different. I went through the same thing in medical school. Its a right of passage. I would also say, I would much rather have fallen in my own vomit than touch, do, or see some of the things I've seen in medicine.
