If we lose to Texas, I'll be upset. I won't say "Well, we almost beat Texas" even if we were to lose by 1 point. Losing is losing, no matter the score. A 12-0 regular season and an SEC Championship is nothing to scoff at, though.

You can be proud of your wins, but being proud of near-wins is asinine.

I "CAN" and "WILL" be proud of my team for the way they played win or lose.I'm proud of the effort it took to take the # 1 team in the country to the brink. I agree with you. It reminds me of the story my mom told of how John Croyle was invited to speak and give an inspirational talk to teachers at her school and he asked for the Auburn fans to identify themselves. Mom said he made a snobbish comment about not getting into the NC game and then said something about wanting a NC ring and held up his. I couldn't be happier when Brodie got sacked 11 times the neck year. Due to the principal being a Bama fan (but a Miss State grad) he was invited back and even more hateful the next year. I always have heard him labeled as a classy guy, but this astounded me that he would act like this. And more astounded that he was invited back. I can't think of better way to alienate a portion of your audience and I can't imagine anyone he offended listened to a thing he said. I guess it happens when you are outnumbered about 5 to 1 by bama fans but outnumber bama grads 5 to 1. Nothing like Miss State grads and UNA grads talking smack about Alabama.
