Let's clear up one point:

Liberals claim President Bush shouldn't have started this war.

They complain about his prosecution of it.

One liberal recently claimed Bush was the worst president in U.S

history.

Let's clear up one point: President Bush didn't start the war on

terror.

Try to remember, it was started by terrorists BEFORE 9/11.

Let's look at the "worst" president and mismanagement claims.

FDR led us into World War II.

Germany never attacked us: Japan did.

From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost,

an average of 112,500 per year.

Truman finished that war and started one in Korea.

North Korea never attacked us.

From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost,

an average of 18,333 per year.

John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962.

Vietnam never attacked us.

Johnson turned Vietnam into a quagmire.

From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost,

an average of 5,800 per year.

Clinton went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent.

Bosnia never attacked us.

He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three times by

Sudan and did nothing.

Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions.

Over 2,900 lives lost on 9/11.

In the two years since terrorists attacked us,

President Bush has liberated two countries,

rushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida,

put nuclear inspectors in Lybia, Iran and North Korea without firing

a shot,

captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people.

We lost 600 soldiers, an average of 300 a year.

Bush did all this abroad while not allowing another terrorist attack

at home.

Worst president in history? Come on!

The Democrats are complaining about how long the war is taking,

but...

It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno to take the

Branch Davidian compound. That was a 51 day operation.

We've been looking for evidence of chemical weapons in Iraq for less

time than it took Hillary Clinton to find the Rose Law Firm billing

records.

It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to

destroy the Medina Republican Guard than it took Teddy Kennedy to

call the police after his Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick.

It took less time to take Iraq

than it took to count the votes inFlorida!!!!

Our military is GREAT!

We're not talking about the war on terror. We're talking about the war in Iraq. There IS a difference. Al Quida and it's leader Osama bin Laden attacked America; not Saddam Hussein and Iraq. None of the hijackers had ties to Iraq, but 17 of the 19 hijackers were Saudi citizens and ALL of them were members of bin Laden's terrorist organization. While we could have concentrated our efforts on our REAL terrorist attackers, Bush used the September 11th attack as a chance to settle an old family score.

Donutboy, you need to read a post made a couple of weeks ago with alot of quotes in it from all the democratic leaders, including Kerry, who made statements that they believed Saddam had WMDs and also that Saddam had ties to terrorism. Your liberal leaders are now doing a 180. Let's not forget that liberals also voted in favorite of military force being used in Iraq. So, I must call bs on your post.

Didn't Bob Kerrey offer a similar asymetrical response to the USS Cole attack back in 2000? He and Condi were talking about it during her testimony last week. Here's the quote, in part (with a link to his full answer) on October 19, 2000. From the Congressional Record; the speech was titled "IRAQ":

This is the third in a series of violent attacks on the United States dating back to the car bombing of Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia at 10 pm, on Tuesday, June 25, 1996, that killed 19 United States Air Force Airmen and wounded hundreds more. The second attack occurred on August 7, 1998, when U.S. Embassies in Dar es-Salam, Tanzania, and Nairobi, Kenya were bombed. These attacks wounded more than 5,000 and killed 224, including twelve Americans who were killed in the Nairobi blast.

I believe all three of these incidents should be considered as connected to our containment policy against Saddam Hussein's Iraq. The Cole was heading for the Persian Gulf to enforce an embargo that was authorized by the United Nations Security Council following the end of the Gulf War in 1991…

...There are three reasons to abandon the containment policy and aggressively pursue the replacement of Saddam Hussein with a democratically elected government. First, it has not worked; Saddam Hussein has violated the spirit and intent of UN Security Council Resolutions. Second, he is a growing threat to our allies in the region. Third, he is a growing threat to the liberty and freedom of 20 million people living in Iraq...

...For all these reasons, I hope we will direct the anger and desire for vengeance we feel away from Yemen and towards Saddam Hussein. I hope we will begin to plan a military strategy with our allies that will lead to his removal and replacement with a democratically elected government. This would allow us to end our northern and southern no-fly zone operations, remove our forces from Saudi Arabia, and cease the naval patrols of the Persian Gulf. I can think of no more fitting tribute to the 17 sailors lost on-board the Cole than completing our mission and helping the Iraqi people achieve freedom and democracy.

Mr. President, I yield the floor.

Sometimes, I think Donut gets too much encouragement from the other lemmings on place like Democratic Underground. In their insular little realm, they really think they are the ones making sense, discerning the patterns and hidden meanings in all the confusion, and are puzzled as to why the rest of us "don't get it."
