Auburn is the No. 1 seed for the Varsity Equestrian National Championships, scheduled for April 15-17 in Waco, Texas.

The Tigers are seeded No. 2 in Western and Hunt Seat and has qualified five individuals.

"We are proud of being the highest overall seeded team going into nationals," Auburn coach Greg Williams said. "However, we plan to take nothing for granted and we will continue to work hard in preparation of turning in even bigger rides."

The Tigers beat South Carolina and Georgia last week to win the Southern Equestrian Championshiups last week. They were led by MVP Maggie McAlary.

Western riders got upset by South Carolina today. Best they can finish is 5th.

Hunt riders are still in it, down to the final four there.

Individual competition hasn't started yet.

Update:

We didn't have a good meet by Auburn standards. The teams  didn't finish as well as expected and the individual riders came up a little short too.

Still, this is an elite program that always competes for the NC. It's a team all Auburn people can be proud of.

I agree a team to be proud.  I had classes with several of the ladies on the equestrian team and they work as hard if not harder than any athletes at Auburn.
