Imo any recruit that is a 5 star will be a bidding war so why not take a commitment?

Yeah, double edged sword. You want our coaches to be successful but if they are, potentially getting poached is a real thing. Maybe coaches will see we get them in the NFL so we will start getting all the really good ones.

Seems like a lot of gnashing of teeth to me. If on field production doesn't make a marked improvement this year then it really isn't going to matter, and it improves then it's just a matter of signing the checks.

So it's better for Freeze to hire some random dude he doesn't have a prior coaching relationship with, like say Philip Montgomery, and lets just see if it works out, as opposed to a guy he's worked with and had great success. Gotcha. Or maybe your plan is to not hire anyone to replace him?

Not discounting your sources but the prevailing view of the Montgomery hire was kind of a head scratch, certainly not as highly regarded as the Roberts hire, which on paper seemed good.

May be a good idea to wait and see who we get as DC and assistants before you get too high on that soapbox.

Let's not bicker about who killed who. One way or another Roberts wasn't on board and for better or worse, everyone needs to be pulling the same direction. He could have just said "So long and thanks for all the fish" though.
