Oh goodness I hate to hear this. I used to sit in the end zone near Mr. Penny and I have talked with him many times. He seemed like such a kind man. This is sad to hear. Godspeed Mr. Penny.

Dr Jenkins, Auburn City Schools Superintendent, said Mr. Penny is still in surgery.
Mr. Penny's injuries are self inflicted.

Mr. Penny did not show up to work and did not call in. Dr. Jenkins said that was "not like him".

Mr' Penny's gunshot wound was very serious and was in the head.

He will go through several hours of surgery.

Mr. Penny has been with Auburn City Schools for 37 years and is the crossing guard and custodian at Dean Road Elementary.

So sad.  We wave at Mr. Penny every morning as I take my kids to school.  The kids at Dean Road Elementary School really look up to Mr. Penny.

Prayers sent!

Shocking if true that this was self inflicted....have a high school friend whose wife teaches at Dean and she said he was the happiest hardest working person, and just seemed to love everyone and love life.

I remember the funds that were raised to send Mr. Penny to the BCS game. I'm so glad that he had that opportunity.

Prayers lifted for Mr.Penny and his family and friends.
