Analyst/Commentator Credibility Problems

There were two notable screups by analyst/commentators on election night.

The first was by Republican Bob Novak of the Capitol Gang who is getting to be downright cynical. Early in the evening, before any polls had closed, Novak said his very good Republican sources said Kerry was likely to win Ohio. Later he said his Jim Bunting was "toast" in the Kentucky senatorial race. Novak was wrong on both counts and his credibility must be seriously questioned. For sure he needs new sources.

On the Democratic side....late in the evening as it became apparent Bush would likely win Ohio and he was up by about 130,000 votes. The weird Ms. Susan Estrich came on FOX News and assured all that her sources in the highest echelons of the DNC had assured her that Kerry would definitely overcome this deficit and win Ohio. So much for her sources and her credibility.

Yeah Novak really looked stupid after he made out like he was "Mr. Inside Information" as to what his high-placed sources said about the Kentucky Senate Race. I usually appreciate his columns and outlook, but he blew it big time last night.
