Any word on assistant and/or position coaches??

One huge measure of team's coaching staff is how often you have to rehire to replace coaches. Other than Rocker who left on his own, and Malzahn and Roof who were invited to leave, the only coach who has gotten an offer is Grimes. This coaching staff was built to recruit, not to coach. The Tuberville staff was built to coach, not recruit. I ask you which one was more efficient?

the BBQ gang? I think only two coaches were hired from Tubbs staff...BP, Muschamp, and Chizik - but the latter two took lateral moves....BP was here one year and off to Louisville - Chizik best coaches ..Rocker and Gus both got promoted...

Was listening to Sportscall on AM740 Montgomery this morning and heard someone make an interesting connection.

It seems some Auburn players were treated differently than others when it came to following team rules and disciplinary action. Remember Trooper filed a lawsuit against Auburn City Schools because he didn't think his son should have to follow team rules in place on his basketball team.

http://www.thewareaglereader.com/2010/12/trooper-taylor-and-son-sue-auburn-city-schools-to-the-twerchives/

That was because he did not want to cut his hair, and was TT even in charge of discipline for the team? That was up to HC, with input from Tim Jackson......

I hope that Trooper Taylor stays just for his recruiting prowess

No. I don't know the whole story but my gut feel is Trooper and his style caused a great deal of the lack of focus on this team. I'd rather keep Chizik than Trooper. Auburn University has recruited and developed many great individual athletes and teams without Trooper Taylor's help and will do so again. Quite frankly I find many of his antics embarrassing.

What style are you referring too?

Probably stuff like jumping around waving a towel like an idiot who ought to be in the stands instead of on the sideline and having the NCAA sniffing around everywhere he has ever been and prediting a player will shatter records and then coaching them to 17 catches in 4 yrs. Just a few of the things I haven't liked abt his "style"

Sorry to take so long to answer. Much of his poor style is covered above. I also had a very close friend and long time Auburn fan who overheard him recruiting players on campus, in public and was appalled by both his language (MF this and MF that) and by his message of what Auburn is about (good times, partying and bagging as many female students as is possible). Put up the towel, turn you hat around and try to earn the half million plus you are paid to coach receivers instead of jumping around and chest bumping (I hate chest bumping it has been done to death).

You guys are ridiculous at times.....it's always what I heard, never what YOU heard. He took those receivers Tubbs and co could not use and turned them into national champions, and look at how solid a player Blake is. I wonder what Emory's view of TT is? There is nothing wrong with getting the fans involved or showing enthusiasm with players. And enough with the hat thing TT has said it's to honor his dad. (read up on it if you have not) One thing I can observe is with that exodus of players after 2010, the team lost a lot of good leadership. In 2011 and 2012 You had a team full of youngsters and very few leaders, in Lutz, Blake, and Bell. It was a difficult task and with Chiz papa smurf leadership style, it just did not work.....some of you believe it's not the coaches responsibility to raise or guide players that it should have been instilled by parents..... but the minute they go astray you want to point the fingers at coaches for being soft...

According to this article 3 assistants are still around/active; Luper, Trooper and Thigpen.

At least three assistants are expected to be hitting the recruiting trail Wednesday for Auburn in hopes of keeping its highly-touted class together in the wake of Gene Chizik’s firing Sunday, according the websites that cover Auburn recruiting — Inside The Auburn Tigers, AuburnUndercover and AuburnSports.com.

Recruiting coordinator Curtis Luper, along with receivers coach Trooper Taylor and linebackers coach Tommy Thigpen — and possibly more — are expected visit recruits. All three have been part of Chizik’s staff since his first season in 2009.

Auburn athletics director Jay Jacobs said Sunday the Tigers coaching staff had the option to stay on until a new coach was hired. The next football coach will have the ultimate decision of whether they remain on staff.

New Recruiter: "Well hello, fine young men! Would you like to be some jolly good fellows and join our outstanding Auburn University Football Team? Please note that we allow no use of profanity, although the occasional "oh golly" or "Heaven's sakes" can be forgiven if you pray accordingly. Here, we believe dreadlocks are known as such because we dread to see them. If you'd like to grow your hair out, I think Sammy Davis, Jr demonstrated an acceptable style for such. Please be mindful of the delicate little ladies around campus. If you would like to escort one on an outing, please adhere to no touching below the chin (except for public hand holding), and please have them home to the dormitories by 10:30 before you miss curfew with our fine security firm.

Instead of chest bumping and towel waving, we encourage celebratory gestures such as a firm handshake, a pat on the back, and in extreme moments, perhaps a fist pump (but just one). Please remember that the use of profanity, including "darn", "shucks", and, heaven forbid, "crap" will not be permitted.

Again, welcome to Auburn University. Here is your complimentary copy of season 1 of the Fresh Prince...please find the character Carlton Banks to be an appropriate role model for campus conduct."

Seriously, it would take something like this to please a few of you. As long as they are disciplined, hard working, attending/passing class and reaching their potential, I could care less about towel waving, chest bumping, and players enjoying the campus social life.

Just a short response as it will be useless to try to convince you of your error. What your post shows is that you know nothing about leadership. There is a distance between command and soldier as there is between a coach and player. A leader will fail is he takes the position of a friend with those in his command. This is true in the military, business and certainly in football. If you want to see the result of this "I'm your buddy" style review the Auburn game films from 2012. By the way I pride myself on my use of profanity, using a style that is quite explicit and based on quality more than quantity. My point about TT's public profanity laced diatribe is that it was in a public place where mixed company, including children, were present. He is an employee of Auburn University and should conduct himself as such. You said "As long as they are disciplined, hard working, attending/passing class and reaching their potential, I could care less about towel waving, chest bumping, and players enjoying the campus social life." Well my friend that team was not disciplined, not hard working, and nowhere near reaching their potential.

RT @colecubelic: "I'd recommend the next coach keep coach (Trooper) Taylor...not just because of coaching but for recruiting" Emory Blake

Well it will only be for recruiting because Trooper's coaching has only been marginally above Greg Knox's coaching. Another bad thing about Trooper is that he does not understand when to stop recruiting and being a coach. Once these kids are signed, they need a coach, not a recruiter kissing their ego-inflated butts.

"How dare you have a different opinion than me!"

-This thread right now

War Eagle.

To bring it back to the point of the topic

Trooper, Luper and Thigpen staying as of now for recruiting purposes and i'm sure the new head coach once announced will make his own decision on whether they stay or not.

Well if they spent a little more time actually working on football and less on the social life they might have actually turned out to be pretty decent football players. Show me any improvement in any of the receivers over the past 4 years.

Yes, if our wrs were coached better all our qbs would be entered in the nfl draft. Top ten picks.

Not to mention more WRs in the NFL.

Sorry I think you are wrong. I'd say he was 90 percent. X'sand O's coaching was not our problem. Poor attitude was the problem and I believe it started with Trooper Taylor.
