“After stating that their investigation confirms that Tea Party and conservative groups were improperly targeted, they dismiss it merely as a byproduct of gross mismanagement and incompetence — ignoring volumes of evidence in the public record and efforts to obstruct legitimate inquires,” Issa said in the statement.

Democrats, however, led ranking House Judiciary Committee member John Conyers Jr. (D-Mich.), called on Republicans to “end this partisan witch hunt and focus on matters that impact the lives of the American people.”

No one was fired for the miss management of Benghazi. It only cost 4 American lives though.

We were told that the IRS scandal only involves a field office in Cincinnati, and wasn't a real issue. Just a minor snafu. Now they're admitting they did wrong, but where is the justice? The accountability ?

Off topic from the thread, but:

Nixon was never impeached. He resigned before it went that far. Had he not resigned and the House had voted for impeachment, the charge(s) brought before the Senate would most likely have been obstruction of justice, specifically: Raising and spending money to silence Watergate witnesses, Attempting to use one government agency (the CIA) to impede the investigation of another (the FBI), Tampering with evidence (the gap(s) in the Oval Office tapes), or other actions to cover up or impede a lawful criminal investigation.

Lying, to the American people or others, is not a crime (unless under oath), nor an impeachable offense. Not that I condone it, but not a crime. That's probably just as well, because I suspect every politician has done so at one time or another.

This is what bothers the hell out of me about the old guard, GOP establishment. Bill Bennett said that they're only solution to address Obama was impeachment, but that he realized it was impossible for that to happen. Even though the GOP have both the Senate and the house, Bennett was adamant that nothing could be done to stop Obama, even when it came to the illegal immigration matter. Basically, Bennett's position was that the GOP, & the country, just had to bend over, grab our ankles and take it. The GOP are less willing to even shut down the government than to pursue impeachment against Obama. This, to me , is insanity. And it is this mindset which will keep the GOP out of the White House for at least another eight years.
