Absolutely shameful.

I admit I've struggled to understand what on earth anyone really sees in Trump. But those of you who wonder what anyone sees in a democratic socialist - read that whole article. Look at the video from the Indiana senator who feels deceived by these greedy bastards - and see if it starts to make a little sense. It isn't about free stuff. It's about a feeling that the game is so rigged, the playing field so tilted in favor of those who've already gotten theirs, yours, your neighbors and still want more, that they just want someone to come in and blow the game up.

It is about free stuff to many, certainly not all.

How do we keep this companies here? Tax breaks? A big import tax on those companies products entering the US? We have to figure out something.

Drop the corporate tax rates. Cut back and get rid of burdensome regulations. These two would be a good start.

Homer I agreed with all that. Don't really know what you are reacting to. But if you are concerned at all about those workers, stop handing the few jobs out there to illegals.

It seems rather bizarre that people want to argue ideology when, real democracy has ceased to exist. The government has not lost it's way. The government is very much under control. Those in control appear to have very narrow interests.

I doubt those Carrier employees are interested in picking lettuce.

I agree with the first - in the context of tax reform - but we don't need to emulate China by eliminating "burdensome" regulations.

homer, your partisan is showing. Those poor folks working for Carrier will find it even harder to find good paying jobs.

So lets just keep bringing in even more workers and taking even more jobs.

Ttitan is right. The tone deafness from some in DC is what is driving the electorate toward the crazies.

This has nothing to do with partisanship. Nor does it have anything to do with immigration. It's about US companies sending their jobs to countries where labor is cheap. It's about our political system bending over backwards to hand out subsidies to US companies and they screw us anyway.

Stopping immigration will do nothing to address it. These jobs weren't taken by immigrants working for less wages, they were "outsourced" by the company.

Meanwhile, these corporations have a much larger representation in our political system than ordinary citizens thanks in part to the dearly departed Scalia.

Partisanship is parroting the diversionary tactic of blaming immigrants for what corporations are responsible for.

Please explain how Scalia played a part in this outsourcing? If you cannot please stop throwing crap on the wall as your cheapshots are getting old....

I believe that a lot of Trump supporters would say that Trump will come in and blow the game up, just like others think that the democratic socialist will.

I don't think I would place my faith in a member of the 1% to "blow the game up". I think people support Trump because he feeds their fantasies.

By greatly extending the power and influence of corporate interests by declaring their financial influence "free speech". As The Donald would say, it was Huuuuuuuuuuuuuge!

Think, man.

So if we double the minimum wage how many companies will move jobs back here because we are doing the "right thing".

Well, I hope they don't double minimum wage, but 7.25 is not an existence wage. Part of the problem is that where I live, if someone gets a job making 7.25/hr. they lose most of their benefits. So, they will get a job, work it a while and quit before they are on the books for making too much money.

They either need to raise the minimum wage or come up with a way to help people who live off of minimum wage or close to it.

There has to be a way to make this work. Many outsourced jobs are having to pay their workers more and more as things improve in those countries. In my line of work, some business is outsourced to Costa Rica and their starting wages are very close to what we pay in the states.

True, but we need to evaluate what regulations might be excessive and avoid adding new and more strict regulations unless there is extremely good reason to do so.

One thing I like about Trump is I believe he may be able to get the right people in place to help him hammer out what needs to be done to help this issue and attack it from various angles.

In my business lines we are mostly providing a service. The bottom tier jobs start just above minimum wage. With that said we have employees with a GED making 40 to 70k per year with benefits that match our executives. Now I admit those bennies are not Fortune 500 type but we do offer profit sharing, 401k match at 33% and subsidized health insurance payments. Our part time employees don't get all this but we truly don't weed them out due to their part time choice. You produce and you make coin......just promoted a 13 year billing clerk to inside sales and this girl rocks. She is hungry and gives me faith in our country.

Yeah it is. Offering an opportunity to advance with no investment other than your intelligence and efforts. Prefer to hire those that bring in more income than we pay them but will live with a few that can efficiently process the back office. Hiring daily under those circumstances.

They already got the tax breaks. They got the Import- Export Bank. They've gotten virtually every loophole and kickback they've asked for, yet they still want more. They apparently won't be happy until they have it all.

this. place tariffs that make it impossible.

Rather than tariffs, why don't we simply close the loopholes that promote diverting profits to offshore shells or subsidiaries and, allow MNCs to defer taxes on those profits? Then, we could/should replace those egregious loopholes with tax incentives that reward REAL domestic capital investment.

Why reward tax avoidance? Why not reward real investment? I wonder if the MNCs have any influence over tax policy?

By the way homer, the title of the thread is about turning a room full of people into Sanders and Trump supporters. The author implied that it was turning some against immigration.
