Here's a little perspective:

INDIANAPOLIS -- More than 400 sports teams at the nation's Division I schools could lose scholarships next year under the NCAA's new academic standards, according to a report released Monday.

Most of the scholarship losses, which would be for one year, were expected in football, baseball and men's basketball.

Of the 5,270 Division I teams, about 410 risk penalties. About half of the nation's 328 Division I schools have at least one team that could face sanctions, according to the NCAA's preliminary report.

Isn't it just a wonderful thing to see the NCAA sanctioning these Universities by taking away the only opportunities some kids will ever have to go to college? Hey, Auburn had four guys transfer out to play at other Division 1 schools. Let's eliminate a scholarship or two so some more people won't go to college and better themselves. Warms your heart, doesn't it?

What they need to do is reward the one that end up above a certain threshold, like 950 or so by letting those schools award additional schollys. Reduce the scholarship reductions and REWARD instead of PUNISH so much.

The NCAA is a bunch of eggheads running the show and not looking at the big picture. Let's create MORE opportunities, not less, for those schools and students that deserve it.
