You're the one asserting fact.

As for recruiting, it's G5. Who gives a hell if he wins the race to sign the most 3 stars? It's an unknown. He, at least, maximizes what talent he does have. 0 losing seasons, 3 straight division titles, 2 out of 3 conference titles and 4 straight bowls at UAB is nothing to scoff at. He's a good coach. Whether that carries over to coaching in the SEC remains to be seen, but that's the case with Napier too.

This exactly, but most are ok with Napier  it not Clark plus I believe most coaches would do a lot worse at UAB all around. UAB has got to be the hardest place to recruit to.
I would take my chances with Clark over Steele

I'd honestly be OK with either. Like Clark though. Wife is an alum and we've been big on UAB football since the resurrection.

I would definitely take him over Steele

Yeah, me too. I'm not sure about all this noise about insubordination and a coup, but am definitely in "clean house" mode at this point. Bring someone new in and give them full control.

By the way Go Huskies. Class of '04.

The world is full of bad people succeeding and good people failing. The "just world" is a fallacy.

True. But it's not full of 9-36 coaches who nobody bothered to offer a HC job to for 20 years suddenly becoming world-beaters.

I mean yeah, definitely part of my calculus for a hire here.

Doesn't alter my argument though.

I give up. We can afford $7 -$10 million a year coach.  It will pay for itself and then some. Alabama has to be laughing at us. They showed us the formula,  and, we can't copy it. Step #1 Find a world beater coach. #2 Put our people on airplane,  with instructions of don't come back without him. Pretty simple. Auburn is lucky to have it that way, and, I hear nothing but trial runs with OC/DC and second tier coachs.  Awesome job with keeping up with the Jones.

Both guys seem to be program builders and get the most out of their players. The key is who they surround around themselves. For Bill, it needs to be recruiters and for Napier , it needs to be quality coordinators.

Typical reaction on this board. If someone does not like what is being said... shut them up!

I’m not sold on Napier.  But then again I’m not sold on Sark or Clark or Elliot or anyone... As usual, we just have to accept that Auburn cannot hire a proven HC and that whoever we hire will be a crap shoot.

Most elite proven guys are working...Saban, Dabo, Kelley, ..and Day. Fish in the pond of success, poach a coach from a winning program like UGA did, but then again UT tried that and they appear to have failed 😂😂......

They are either working or we don’t pursue them when we should (Cristobal). I honestly think we could have had something great if he came in and cleaned house and we gave him full control.

We can. We choose not to. Big difference fam. TAMU showed you can poach a sitting proven even natty winning coach with a big enough offer. Cristobal raise is only to 4.6 million. Our boosters wipe their hemhmroids with more money than that 😂🤣. They choose access over wins. Doesn't mean we can't get lucky. All of our average at best hires have had huge success for at least one season. Just need to sustain it.

We need a coach that can walk into the living room of a 5 star recruit right after Saban, Kirby, Coach O, Jimbo, Lane, and still win their fair share of the battles. Out of our list, I think Elliot seems the best choice, but to be honest he doesn’t seem all that enthused to interview for it. Sark seems to be the 2nd best.

Oh I agree with you that we can...but we know we won’t.

Napier has a edge about him directly related to those event's. He hates dabo's guts for that. Especially since he was the guy who brought in tahj boyd as his lead recruiter. He basically feels like dabo used him as the fall guy. Boyd is the godfather of clemson football and transformed and shaped clemson and dabo in to the big brand name that they are today. He saved dabo's job. Napier only had Kyle freaking parker the baseball data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAPABAP///wAAACH5BAEKAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAICRAEAOw== first player to work with at QB.

When saban didn't give him the OC job he could of chilled, rested on his laurels and been content with having job security continuing to be the bama wr coach for several years but he bet on himself and left the nest to become Arizona states oc and look at him now.

Yes!!! Kyle freakin Parker at QB and they still played for the ACC Championship in 2009 and broke a then school record for points scored in a season.

Someone mentioned earlier today about if Tony Elliot came to Auburn he would try to bring Brandon Streeter with him. I think if we hired Napier that he might have a chance to poach Streeter away from Clemson also.  Napier and Streeter were both offensive GA's back in 2004 under Tommy Bowden at Clemson.
