So RI went 5 pitchers tonight.  2 of them are done for weekend and 1 probably done till Sunday at best.  I’m assuming we have a deeper staff.  The way we’ve been hitting we may put up some numbers the last 2 games if we can get them to trot 5 pitchers out 1st game Saturday.

Wondering if this will motivate football to feel included with the everything school moniker.

Skipper giving us some really important innings.

A four game series is tough on everybody except the regulars who get a ton of AB's.  The way this one started out, Butch had to be worried about torching the bullpen in game one,  Armstrong, Skipper and Burkhalter had to combine for 150+ pitches but got things settled and finished the job in good fashion (especially with the free passes).  Pitching is going to have to be waaaaay better this year than last.

Add in that we had 2 midweek games and the first game on Tuesday we had to go to the bullpen very early. If we can sweep Rhode Island it will be a masterful job by our pitching rotation/bullpen.

Lets see if I can get caught up after the HUGE basketball win.

Rhode Island loads the bases in the bottom of the 1st but Gonzalez is able to get out of it with a double play.

Rambusch leads off the game with a homer, Howell singles and advances to 2nd on a balk. But a fly out from DiChiara and 2 strike outs from Carlson and Ware end the 1st.

1-0 Auburn

Gonzalez with a lead off walk but then gets two fly outs and a ground out.

Dyal pops up, Moore doubles, and Foster singles in a run. Advances to 2nd on the throw. Wyandt walks but then Rambusch with a fielder's choice and Howell fouls out.

2-0 Auburn going to the 3rd.

Gonzalez settling in now. 3 up, 3 down, and 1 strikeout.

DiChiara, Carlson, and Ware due up.

2-0 Auburn Bottom of the 3rd

DiChiara reaches on an error by the 3B. Seems like this guy has had several errors already.

Carlson with a fielder's choice, DiChiara out at 2nd. Advances to 2nd on a wild pitch. Ware strikes out again.

Dyal walks on 4 pitches and we have runners on 1st and 2nd with 2 out. Clutch hitting time! More walks the bases loaded. Foster is up. With his RBI earlier, he has had an RB in 9 of his last 10 games.

Foster draws a 3-2 walk!

3-0 Auburn bases still loaded.

Wyandt SINGLES! Moore and Dyal score. Foster goes to 2nd.

5-0 Auburn!

Rhode Island wanted their pitcher to get through this inning but no go as he gives up another 3-2 walk. 75 pitches in less than 3 innings. New pitcher coming in.

Edit: New pitcher comes in and gets Howell to strike out on 3 straight pitches.

DiChiara with a 4 pitch walk. Carlson grounds out into a FC, DiChiara did a good job of sliding hard enough so that Carlson was safe.

LOUD out for Ware as he flies out to to left-center.

BYE BYE BASEBALL! Dyal with a 2-run HOMER!!

7-0 Auburn!

Gonzalez gets the first two outs with 1 k but gives up back-to-back singles. Runners on 1st and 2nd.

Nice job from Gonzalez as he has to field a ground out and throw to 1st.

Wyandt, Rambusch, Howell up.

7-0 Auburn B5

Wyandt flies out, Rambusch walks, and then advances to 2nd on a passed ball. Another passed ball and Rambusch is on 3rd. Seems like there's a mixup with the catcher and the pitcher.

Howell grounds out but Rambusch comes in to score.

8-0 Auburn T6

DiChiara strikes out to end the inning.

Some defensive substitutions:

Burk coming in for DiChiara. Farquhar in for Moore. LaRue in for Wyandt. Gonzalez still in the game. Great outing from him to save our bullpen.

Strikeouts 7 and 8 for Gonzalez before he gives up a single. Drabick coming in for relief of Gonzalez! 6.2 innings, 0 runs, and only 1 walk.

Rambusch grounds out, Howell grounds out, Burk strikes out on 3 pitches.

That was a very quick inning for the Rhode Island pitcher.

Cam Hill is coming in to pitch for Rabick.

This is Cam Hill's first time on the mound this year.

Hall is coming in for Ware in RF. Brown is coming in for Dyal in LF.

Hill hits the first batter but comes back and gets out 1 on a flyout. Another flyout for out 2. STRIKE OUT #1 for Hill on the season!

Carlson, Hall, and Brown up to bat

11-0 Auburn B8th!

3-2 count for Hall and he draws a walk! That's the 10th drawn walk to go along with 8 hits.

New pitcher coming in for Rhode Island.
