A bit of a shakeup in the lineup as McCondichie goes to 2nd in the batting order. Blaine drops down to 6 and Ellis drops down to 8th. Will be interesting if that takes the pressure off of them. A full-count walk to the second batter. Penta falls behind 2-1 before Godwin with a great throw and a tag to get the speedy Wallace stealing. That was her 2nd this weekend against Wallace. Before this series, Wallace was a perfect 30 of 30 stealing! Penta gets the hot hitting Penta to fly out to deep center. Full count walk for Peralta! Auburn batters being more patient at the plate against Hightower so far. Smart since Florida is last in the SEC in walks given up. Garcia gets ahead 3-0 before a 5 pitch walk! Lisenby gets ahead 1-0 and we have a mound visit to calm down Hightower. Hard hit ball up the middle but Hightower is able to snag it. Blaine goes to dp and Schmidt comes in to RF. 9 pitch battle and Penta gets the lead off hitter to ground out to Cox at 3B. 2 pitch pop up to McCondichie at 2B. Happy to get a quick bat after the long battle the previous batter. Ground out to Ellis at 1B! Great 1-2-3 inning! McCondichie was late getting to 1st and Cox couldn't throw it. First hit for both teams. Gotta fix these miscues, it won't go down as an error but if McCondichie gets there in time it might have been an out. Strike out swinging for out 2! Bunt attempt but this time McCondichie gets to 1st in time and Cox is aggressive in her defense! Great 9 pitch inning for Penta! She was confused when the ball stayed fair but her speed gets on her 1st! McCondichie with a 1 pitch slap single to shallow left! We're in business with 1 out and runners on 1st and 2nd! Then the fan was jawing back and forth before he climbed on the dugout. Nice 8 pitch battle and a 3-2 count before Ellis gets her first hit of the series with a single! Smith is coming in to run for her. Sac bunt for Cox and Smith is in scoring position for the top of the lineup. Perfect opportunity to get this back to a tie or a lead! And that's immediately taken away as a fielder's choice to 3rd gets Smith out. Stupid attempt from Smith. If she would have stayed at 2nd, Packer would have easily been safe at 1st. Ouch. fla just gets the bat on the ball and makes other team make the errors. its weird we’re such a HR team now after the last few years. got to have a happy medium. remember too, most of our best hitters are freshmen so they need time to figure their slumps out w pitching only going to improve getting into the meat of SEC. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
