RadioWryn 0
I think 6.5 is a good fair line .. if Auburn wins by more than 17, I will be downright shocked. This won't be easy, kids.

MrMoJo 0
They've got 27 seniors this year. Quarterback is real good but has a broken collarbone and will miss first2 or 3 games. First time I've ever seen GHS with 4 potential All-City tailbacks. And, of course, they have my son who is a junior blocking for them at fullback (that's him below). Got a 6'5 wide reciever who can fly and 2 LB's that UT covets. It's a very tough region but they've got good chemistry. We'll see..... They have a great website....go to www.tigerfootball.org and keep up with 'em all season. They update each week, very, very good site, probably the best in the state for HS football. MrMoJo 0
Hey SKCAUB, Were you around when Conredge Holloway was there at Lee? He might have been there later? He was the best player in Huntsville I ever saw from the 1960's to now. Wasn't Steve Wilson on that 1967 team? Those were the great years of HS football in Hunstville. I remember the nights you couldn't get a seat at Milton Frank. It's pretty sad now.....

Greg Patterson was the qb in '67, and the late, Carl McCulley was our star hb (that's "half back" to you kids out there. LOL!) We won the TVC, but they sent Huntsville to the state playoffs...it was crooked and political, even back then. Man, we were PO'd! But you're right, it was Butler, H'ville and Lee, and that's it...and it was some vicious football back then. Those were the days....
MrMoJo 0
Yeah, Not like now when 64 teams go in the playoffs some with losing records, back then they invited only 8 teams per 1A thru 6A and that was it for the playoffs back then. There were no records deal, the teams were voted to go by the Alabama sports writers (sound famililar?). Alot of great teams lost out, Lee-Huntsville had some killer teams back then. This comes from a Grissom guy. I'll post the Grissom-Lee score Friday, what a great rivalry....and it's only 34 years old.

80Tiger 907
The 6A classification did not come about until early 80's I believe. Until then it was only class 1A through 4A. There were actually even fewer overall teams making the playoffs.
MrMoJo 0
I played for Grissom class of 1973. That was the first year of a zillion team playoff. The class of 1972 was the last year of the old 8 team per division playoff. I can absolutely assure you that Grissom was 3rd in the state 1972 and 2nd in the state 1974. Those years were all 6A not 4A.....but then I was knocked out quite frequently LOL.... ****EDIT**** 80TIGER, I looked on the GHS website and you are most correct, those teams were 4A until 1979. Maybe I ought to read the sig on my post, you are welcome to give me lashes with wet noodles. Duh! Running my mouth as usual. Thanks for correcting a dumb*ss......
