Or it should at least negate any helmet-to-helmet protection he’d have when hit since he initiated the contact with his head.

It isn't a failure to see the blitz, it is a belief your center will pick him up.   Lew had a momentary mental lapse there.

Thorne should’ve pulled it on 1st down.   We didn’t have the numbers outside on 2nd down.  Not sure if we had another read to go with or not.  3rd down Lew missed that block!   Made a great play, then missed one.  He’s a rookie.
