Hamas vs Palestinians

Recommended Posts

Lots of protests on university campuses nationwide.

The hawks (both Republican and Democratic) seem incapable to distinguishing between Hamas the terrorist militarized group) and Palestnians (the civilians, the people who live in Palestine).

Most Palestinians detest the Hamas. But the Israelis indiscriminately slaughter innocent Palestrinians -- women, children, elderly, no matter, just kill them all.

The protesters on university campuses are protesting the slaughter of innocent Palestinians. They are not anti-semitic. They are protesting the policy and activity of the Islamic State slaughtering innocent people.

Yet hawks on both aisles are kissing the ass of Israeli military.

I'm old. I was on campus at Auburn when we were protesting the Vietnam war. Our demonstrations were peaceful, as ae the current protests. We didn't get rustled by cops or arrested. Peaceful protests were understood to be freedom of speech.

What has changed now? Just the fanaticism of wingnuts. Peaceful protests are no longer protected as Constitutional freedom of speech. Now peaceful protests are considered political terrorist activities, so let's bring in the police to squash opinions that do not alighn with the wingnut propaganda.

Even at Columbia, the Columbia student news, which is edited by a Jewish student, condemns the politically- motivated police harassment and arrests or protesters. They've been peaceful. They've broken no laws. But the wingnuts have called for the President of Columbia to resign because -- hey -- students are protesting and she's not eager to throw them in a dungeon and beat them to death.

Okay, so this is MY opinion. I believe in the Constitutional right to peacefully protest.

Pictures of bombed hospitals with bleeding and dying children tend to rile students up, no matter what their politics are.

Ignoring the other sides death toll and who actually started the recent unrest is an easy way to fuel ignorant students into protesting. But hey, the media is all in for the destruction of Israel, so…..

Just an honest question: at whom do they direct their anti-semitism?  The Israelis or the Palestinians?

BOTH are semitic peoples.

The media is not "all in for the destruction of Israel".  The media are freaked out by Israeli military slaughtering women and children and hospital patients, as well as aid workers.

I am not anti-Israel. But I am truly upset by the continuing slaughter of innocent people in Palestine.

Equating Palestine with Hamas is like equating Southern whites with KKK.  The Palestinian populace is not HAMAS!

In fact, today IDF bombed areas in Palestine that it had announced were safe for Palestinians, killing innocent Palestinians. Why? Welp -- because let's slaughter them all.

Need a definition of Genocide?

It is very possible to support Israel and not Netanyahu. The maturity of Israelis do it every day.

Well see, that's the problem. The argument of "who started it" extends back and forth for decades.

And really, "the media is all in for the destruction of Israel"? :-\

People seem to struggle on WHY the Middle East is a trainwreck  (besides radical Islam). We screwed it up. The West picked political favorites, curved it up, and literally took away countries from people (how do you think maga personalities would react to that?). Especially the Palestinians. 2 peoples - one homeland, no one wants to share. Theres plenty of bad guys to go around on this one.

Funny, but pictures of bombed hospitals with bleeding and dying children don't seem to get anyone's attention if there arent Jews around to blame.

Assad killed 400K "Palestinians" and no one on a college campus could humanly care less.

JewBelong's billboards about Hamas, Israel, and antisemitism exclude a lot of Jews. Ironic!

https://www.fdd.org/analysis/2024/03/22/poll-hamas-remains-popular-among-palestinians/

According to the poll, only seven percent of Gazans blamed Hamas for their suffering. Seventy-one percent of all Palestinians supported Hamas’s decision to attack Israel on October 7 — up 14 points among Gazans and down 11 points among West Bank Palestinians compared to three months ago. Fifty-nine percent of all Palestinians thought Hamas should rule Gaza, and 70 percent were satisfied with the role Hamas has played during the war.

Before October 7, Fatah would have defeated Hamas in a head-to-head vote of all Palestinians 26 to 22 percent. If elections were held today, Fatah would lose to Hamas 17 to 34 percent. Eighty-one percent of respondents were dissatisfied with Abbas, up from 76 percent before the war. Sixty-two percent did not view the recent resignation of former PA Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh as a sign of reform. And 65 percent of Palestinians think the PA is a burden on the Palestinian people. Among likely voters, 56 percent supported Marwan Barghouti, who is serving multiple life sentences for his role in the murder of Jews during the Second Intifada. Thirty-two percent supported Qatar-based Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, and 11 percent supported Abbas.

Most Palestinians Do Not Believe Hamas Committed War Crimes

Only 5 percent of Palestinians think Hamas’s massacre on October 7 constitutes a war crime. The poll found that 80 percent of Palestinians have not seen videos of Hamas atrocities, with 60 percent responding that the media they watch did not show them. Relatedly, among those surveyed, Qatar-owned Al-Jazeera was by far the most popular television station, with 61 percent saying it was the channel they watched most over the past two months. Recent reports indicate that a number of Al-Jazeera reporters are also Hamas members. On March 21, Al-Jazeera released a video investigation seeking to minimize Hamas’s brutality on October 7. The program not only insinuated that Israeli soldiers killed Israelis on October 7 but also denied that Hamas used rape as a weapon of war.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see the organization of these “protests” to know it’s not grass roots driven on some of the more “prestigious” campuses. Fact that

Yea, you know that a student funded protest would have identical tents ready and available at the drop of a hat...

Well, since they are the one dropping the bombs, unopposed, and killing non-combatants like, especially innocent children (15,000 last count), and bombing Christian Churches in Gaza, and are basically perpetuating an ethnic cleansing in Gaza and an Apartheid in the West Bank, well, maybe they do deserve a wee bit of blame.

Biggest problem that you have is how little you understand Judaism and how it affects the current Israeli government and their policies and actions.

You didn't provide any fact-based sources, you simply restated what you had previously said without any sort of proof.

With all of the wingbut rhetoric (from both Democrats and Republicans) a lot of the actual reality gets buried inpolitics.

The trope narrative of "outsiders" is one of those blasts that every wingnut wants to broadcast -- without any actual proof. And even if there are some outsiders who come in, they are just minorities.

Most of the protesters on every campus (and there are many) nationally, ar students enrolled at the university. There are not BUSES  bringing in hundreds of activists. (If you can prove it, then do it, but legit news not wingnut propaganda).

DID YOU KNOW --

At Yale and Columbia and other universities, the Jewish students do not feel unsafe?

Did you know that, at Yale, there is a Jewish group "Jews for Ceasefire" that are protesting along with those who are protesting for Palestinian victims?

Did you know that the editor of the student paper at Columbia is Jewish and he has said he and other Jews on campus feel no threat from the protesters, meet with and talk to the protesters, etc?

Bringing in militarized forces to arrest peaceful protesters is unconstitutional abridgement of freedom of speech. Americans have the right to peacefully protests. The protesters on university campuses have not been involved in any violent acts.

This is just more wingnut response to peaceful speech they do not agree with. Despicable, disgusting. Even faculty at these universities have condemned administrators calling in police on peaceful demonstrators.

We condemn other countries (dictatorships) for criminalizing peaceful protests. Yet here we are, supposedly a free country with Constitutional protections for freedom of speech, doing exactly the same thing.

How sad for our country.

It still isn't genocide.

There is a difference between Hamas and Palestinians.  However, if Hamas is such a small contingent in Gaza, the population should have no problem informing as to where the remaining hostages are and offering the planners of the October 7th massacre to the IDF. Islamic extremism has to be rejected by the population of Gaza, in the same way as it must be rejected by the Afghans, Iraqis, Iranians etc etc etc.

Everyone knows that Iran has been funding Hamas and supplying them with bombs, which Hamas has been launching into Israel well before this conflict began.  What Hamas did on Oct 7th was abhorrent.  They purposefully murdered family members one at a time in front of each other, while taking others hostage and riding them thru the streets of Gaza like trophies, while people celebrated from their open windows and along the streets.

Israel does need to wrap this up and do all they can to prevent any further loss of innocent lives.  However, I cannot blame them for demanding that all of Hamas leadership be either killed or taken into custody.
