Air America Crashes

The sad thing here is that nobody in the Democratic Party recognizes that what is needed in this country is a moderate opposition to the Republicans. If they moved the entire cotton-picking party to the center, they'd overwhelm the Republicans. Air America, however, as the counterpart to Rush Limbaugh, was essentially the same shrill Tinfoil Hat Brigade that the overwhelming majority of Americans have come to distrust.

So what will happen in November? The country will hand the Congress to Pelosi & Company. Then the Democrats will think they have a mandate for their economic and social platforms. Then they will be utterly baffled when the country hands the Congress right back to the Republicans in 2008.

AP: Air America Radio Files Chapter 11

Oct 13 10:37 AM US/Eastern

Air America Radio, a liberal talk and news radio network, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, a network official told the AP.

The network had denied rumors just a month ago that it would file for bankruptcy, but on Friday Air America said negotiations with a creditor from the company's early days had broken down.

The network will stay on the air while it resolves issues with its creditors, spokeswoman Jaime Horn told the Associated Press. A formal announcement was expected to be made later Friday.

It's all because of a vast right wing conspiracy.

I guarantee you that somebody will say that. Of course, the fact that Air America's message resonated with a very small portion of the country has nothing to do with it.

I actually tried to listen to them on the radio. :puke: It was just one big liberal whinefest. Even if I was a liberal, I would have been bored to tears with it. No educational or redeeming value to it at all to make me want to tune in on a daily basis. When your overwhelming message is a complaint and your basic communicaiton method is sarcasm, that is hard to listen to day after day. Good riddance.

They must be the victim of that "vast right wing conspiracy" that made up stories about Billy Clinton boning interns in the White House.

In all fairness to Slickus Maximus, technically he wasn't actually boning the interns. Or at least that is what the dems have been saying for years.

The down side to all this is , should AirAmerican falter and the Dems regain the House, look for the return of The UNFairness Bill and rear it's ugly head. Forcing talk radio to give 'equal time' to what already is free speech, but now heavily regulated by the Imperial Federal Gov't sensors.

When your biggest talking heads are two crappy comedians and a B-list actress, what else did they expect? Why they dems ever thought that they could get people from the entertainment industry to compete with Limbaugh, Hannity, Bortz, etc, is beyond me. They best liberal and legitimate radio talk show out there is Alan Colmes and his show is supported by Fox! Because Fox backs his program, you will hear liberals say Colmes is not a true liberal.

The format doesn't really work for progressives. It is more suited to the mindless neanderthal drones that are convinced "Rush is right" and Sean Hannity is brilliant. Most progressives prefer more intelligent humor, like the Daily Show and Colbert Report-- not exclusively "liberal", but right now are very successful. They're also less of a time commitment than a three hour show.

You mean something that truly expresses the superiority of the libs, OK. Something for the mindless Neanderthal drones that are convinced John Kerry was a great candidate, Howard Dean is a great public speaker, Nancy Pelosi is a moderate and Ted Kennedy is a great ethical human being.

You obviously don't watch the programs I mentioned.

More accuratly, progressives perfer scripted shows, where they can't interact w/ the hosts. I've heard Frankenfraud's humor, and there's nothing intelligent about it. He often stammers and stutters his lines, throws out baseless conjecture about topics of which he knows little or nothing, and often looks like a complete fool when he's speaking to a guest on the show. In contrast, Rush has been doing his show for almost 20 yrs, and Boortz has been doing talk radio for over 30, so I'd say there's a market for it, if you're good enough. Why, TT, if radio is so suited for 'mindless neanderthal drones' as you say, did AA go in debt over 40 million $$'s to even go on the air in the 1st place ? Why does Jesse Jackson have a 2 hr political radio show ( in very few markets ) on every Sunday morning?

Good talk radio isn't strictly about HUMOR, it's about a wide variety of things. Maybe that's where Frankenfraud and crew went wrong, thinking they could bring a Comedy Central appeal to politics. Sad thing was, they didn't have anything of substance to talk about. Their entire program was to bash Bush , bash the Right, and essentially bash America. Frankenfraud even admitted that his sole purpose for doing AA was to keep W out of the White House again. He failed, miserably. Al should have left the day after the election, but chose instead to ride that ship below the waves.
